Torpedo
“ | Fired from submersible vessels, the Moray Torpedo is a self-propelled underwater missile that functions well at a variety of ranges and depths. It's designed to bore into the hulls of large ships, leaving them vulnerable to leaks. | „ |
— In-game description |
The Moray Torpedo is a large high explosive ordnance fired by Submarines against Naval Vehicles.
Uses
Specifications
- The Moray has a set-distance-fuse which will detonate the torpedo once it has traveled the designated distance, a minimum of 30 meters to a maximum of 150 meters in 10 meter increments (selected by the gunner). The torpedo also detonates on contact.
- It also has a target depth function (0-50 meters) selected by the gunner
- The explosion deals 3550 High Explosive damage in a 6.5m radius and decreasing amounts in a 7.5m radius.
- Direct hits to unanchored Large Ships cause a Large Leak and kills crew near to the impact. The ship hit visually rolls from the force of the impact.
- The torpedo runs at an approximate speed of 12.5 meters per second, which gives it a max runtime, or time to max range, of 12 seconds.
Usage
- To load Torpedoes in a Submarine, they must be placed on a Material Pallet or Small Flatbed Car and deposited on the loading area of a Dry Dock to be transfered into the submarine's stockpiles. The AC-b “Trident” can alternatively receive the pallet directly in its cargo area.
- To launch a torpedo, a player must first use a Wrench while crouched on the torpedo stockpile to transfer a torpedo into the torpedo tube's dedicated ammo slot, then the torpedo gunner can reload and fire it.
Users
The following infantry weapons, vehicles, and structures use Torpedo:
Production
Structure | Input(s) | Output | Time |
---|---|---|---|
Ammunition Factory (Large Shell Factory) | 2 x Processed Construction Materials 4 x Heavy Explosive Materials 6 MW of power |
1 x Moray Torpedo | 00:04:00 |
Tier 2 Facilities must be fully researched in the Weapons and Structure Tech Tree in order to be produced.
Storage
The Torpedos are so large that they cannot be carried by soldiers or even stored in any inventory. They can only be stored in stockpiles that accept them: base stockpiles, Material Pallets, Material Transfer Stations, Rooster - Tumblebox Trailers, Small Flatbed Cars, Submarine Torpedo stockpiles, and the Large Shell Factories that produce them.
Trivia
- The Moray Torpedo currently deals the single-highest amount of damage in the game.
- The Moray Torpedo is unique in Foxhole for a couple of reasons.
- It's currently the only consumable ammunition that can use components in order to produce them (in terms of more widely used ammunition). Using components for ammunition was more widely used, but were changed when their costs were reworked.
- It is a massive ammunition that can only be transported via Material Pallet, and not carried by hand. This change was made in Update 1.56, but they were initially a large item that could be carried one at a time by a soldier.
- When the Moray Torpedo was introduced in 1.54 Naval Warfare, it was Warden-exclusive. This was due to the ammo only being fired from Submarines, with Wardens having the only sub in the game (at that time). This was changed with the introduction of the AC-b “Trident”, the Colonial's submarine.
