Unstable Substances are a late-game Large Material that is used in the construction of the A0E-9 Rocket Warhead and in the making of 300mm shells.

Storage
It does not stack in inventories (1 per slot). It can be stored in the stockpiles of Bases (32k max), Facilities that produces it (32k), Material Pallets (120), Material Transfer Stations (1000), Rooster - Tumblebox Trailer (32), and Small Flatbed Car (100).
It can be crated (need stack of 1 per crate) and uncrated with the right click context menu while interfacing a Seaport, Storage Depot, or Shipping Container. Crates of Unstable Substances created that way are not reservable.
Crates of Unstable Substances can be directly submitted to any item stockpile that accepts that item to transfer their content. The crates can also be stored in the crate stockpiles of Storage Depots (1000 public, 100 per Reserve Stockpile), Seaports (1000 public, 100 per Reserve Stockpile), Shipping Containers (60), or Storage Ships (1000).
It can be transported by almost any vehicle with inventory slots, but is most commonly transported by Trucks, Small Flatbed Car, or shipping vehicles carrying Material Pallets. Delivering it in crate form is possible but extremely inefficient.
Tips
- Due to the cost and sheer volume of materials needed to construct a single A0E-9 Rocket Warhead and parts, it's highly recommended to coordinate with others' facilities to increase the number of simultaneous productions.
- Building a stockpile of Flame Ammo, before A0E-9 Rockets have unlocked is a common practice.
- Each Flame Ammo takes 25 seconds to produce. Unstable substances require 3 Flame Ammo each, meaning a total of 495 Flame Ammo are required for completion of the rocket.
- (25 sec)•(495 Flame Ammo) = 12,375 seconds•(1 min/60 sec) = 206.25 minutes•(1 hr/60 min) = 3.4375 hours

- Unstable Substances are the first item in the game that converts a type of Ammunition into an intermediate material, which are later used in the final product.
