A Refinery for converting raw resources into materials.
In-game description

The Refinery is a large world structure found in certain towns that is converts certain Raw Resources into Materials. Its stockpile that can store the types of resources and materials it can convert and create.

Construction

It cannot be built, it is found in certain towns in the world. Its location is indicated by an icon MapIconManufacturing.png on the map.

Reconstruction

A destroyed Refinery can be rebuilt with a Construction Vehicle and 400 Basic Materials if the nearby Town Base has unlocked the Industry IconFacilitiesIndustry.png base upgrade. Rebuilding a friendly Refinery fully restores its stockpile, while restoring an enemy Refinery only restores 25%.

Stationary Crane

A Refinery always has a Stationary Crane next to it. The crane is not part of the Refinery, it must be rebuilt separately if destroyed.

Use

Its interface can be accessed on foot, from the driver seat of a logistics vehicle, or from the adjacent Stationary Crane by pressing E.

Refining Resources

To refine a raw resource into a material you must have the raw resource in your personal inventory (backpack, vehicle, or Resource Container) or the refinery inventory. Click on the icon that corresponds with the raw resource you have. Left click will refine 1 predefined stack from your inventory, Shift + Left click will refine all available specific resource in your inventory. This will prioritize pulling from your personal inventory first.

You can select to refine in "Public" or "Personal" using the drop down menu at the top of the center window:

  • "Public" mode directly transfers what you refine into the public stockpile on the right
  • "Personal" keeps the materials you refined in private queues in the center window that only you can access. If you don't refine anything at that Refinery for 50 hours the content of those queues is automatically transfered into the stockpile. Private queues have a limit to the amount they can hold: 1k for technology materials, 12.5k for Basic Materials, and 6k for every other material.

Retrieving Materials
To retrieve the materials once refined, press Left click on their icon to retrieve it all in your inventory, or press Right click and choose "Retrieve as Crate" if you want the materials in crate form which are reservable and can be placed in a private reserve stockpile at a Storage Depot or Seaport. If a Shipping Container is placed on the loading area with a crane, using "Retrieve as Crate" will put the crates directly into the container.

Sorting Wreckage

Wreckage can be sorted into Basic Materials or Refined Materials at a Refinery. Press Right Click and select the Sort All Wreckage option. Each Wreckage has a 75% chance of giving Refined Materials (amount between 15 and 30 units) otherwise it gives Basic Materials (amount between 50 and 100).

Storage

Its stockpile can hold up to 32000 of each raw resource item and materials the Refinery can produce. If that limit is reached for a material, publically refined raw resources will be processed but won't produce any more material of that type. While it wont be a frequent situation, it is wise to avoid wasting raw materials.

In its interface, you can press the Stockpile Actions Log BtLog.png button to view the logs of items retrieved from and submitted to the stockpile. You can also remotely view the item amounts in the stockpile of friendly Refineries by putting your cursor on its icon MapIconFacilityMineOilRig.png on the map.

Items in the Refinery's inventory can be submitted into the stockpile with the "Submit Stockpile Items" button BtSubmitCrate.png at the bottom of the interface.

Loading Area

The Refinery has a loading area on its left side. You can place a shippable container on the loading area with a crane to interact with the structure and directly transfer items in or out. You can repackage the shippable from the crane by pressing the "Package Loading Area Equipment" button BtUnpackage.png in the interface.

With this, you can transfer the content of a Resource Container to be refined or submitted into the stockpile with the "Submit Loading Area Equipment" button BtDrivewayEquipment.png.

You can also retrieve crates of materials from your refining queue using a Shipping Container (can't retrieve materials in the stockpile however).
