— In-game description |
The Green Ash Grenade is a throwable Gas Grenade that creates a poisonous cloud of green gas.
Description
The Green Ash Grenade is a tertiary weapon that can be either thrown by hand up to 15 meters at a rate of 24 per minute or launched further by certain grenade launchers. Whether thrown or launched it is almost perfectly accurate regardless of stability and has a 4 second fuze. Upon detonation, it creates a gas cloud in a 7 meter radius that lasts for 11 seconds.
The cloud apply its effect every second to every soldier in range, even players inside structures or vehicles (except Submarines). If a player is wearing a Gas Mask with a non empty Filter, the cloud drains 7% of the filter every second. Without a working gas mask, players quickly lose their Stamina then when out of stamina they receive 25 Poisonous Gas damage every second and may get the bleeding status. The gas cloud drains a full stamina bar in 4 seconds. The effect does not stack. Multiple clouds on the same spot are not more effective.
The Green Ash Grenade is particularly useful against enemy infantry garrisoned in structures, inside trenches, or inside a vehicle. With its large area and duration it is excellent for area denial, especially at choke points.
It does not stack in the player's inventory (1 per slot) except when wearing a Colonial Grenade Uniform (stacks of 2 per slot)
Its weight is reduced by 25% with a Colonial Grenade Uniform.

Must be fully researched in the Weapons and Structures Tech Tree in order to be produced.
Mass Production Factory orders must have at least 3 crates.
Storage
It does not stack in structure or vehicle inventories (1 per slot) except in ammo slots dedicated to it (varying stack sizes). It can be stored in stockpiles of Bases (32k max).
Crates of Green Ash Grenade can be directly submitted to any item stockpile that accepts that item to transfer their content. The crates can also be stored in the crate stockpiles of Storage Depots (1000 public, 100 per Reserve Stockpile), Seaports (1000 public, 100 per Reserve Stockpile), Shipping Containers (60), or Storage Ships (1000).
It can be transported by almost any vehicle with inventory slots. However it is much more efficient to transport it in bulk amounts as crates, either delivering them to a Base's stockpile with a Truck or to a crate stockpile with shipping vehicles carrying Shipping Containers.
Trivia
- The Green Ash Grenade resembles the American Mk. II KJ gas grenade
- It is currently the only damaging weapon that can be proactively countered by wearing Gas Masks with Filters in them
- While beneficial to all soldiers, it is only logistically viable for armored vehicle crews
- While the Green Ash Grenade is the only weapon in the game that uses the "Poisonous Gas" damage type, it originally wasn't the only one
- Gas Artillery Shells used to act very similar to Green Ash Grenades, except they were loaded into Artillery pieces and fired
- This was quickly removed from the game due for balance reasons, as it made spawn-killing (i.e. firing massive amounts of Gas Shells on a Town Hall, which would quickly kill anyone inside of it) very easily
