A utility item that receives map intelligence updates.
In-game description

The Radio is a utility item that provides constant Map Intelligence updates to a player when equipped.

Use

The radio provides enormous utility to a player, as it provides constant updates to a player's map at set intervals without needing to 'check in' at a Base. These quick updates allow greater flexibility to a variety of roles:

  • Provides Squad Leaders with vital information regarding enemy locations and defenses, improving the odds of the squad's survival.
  • Provides Mortar & Artillery crews with accurate information regarding where to conduct artillery strikes without having to constantly scanning the battlefield using Binoculars. This is especially helpful when trying to destroy counter-batteries (i.e. enemy Artillery crews attacking your artillery).
  • Allows Logistics Players to have greater security regarding safer destination routes between locations, reducing the risk of ambush by Partisans or being caught in enemy fire.
  • Provides tank crews (also known as Tankers) with greater battlefield awareness, and being able to maneuver away from or respond to potential ambushes on the fly.

It must be equipped in the player's Slot #4 to work.

Storage

The Radio does not stack in inventories.

It can be stored in Base stockpiles.

Radio crates can be stored in the stockpile of a Storage Depot, Seaport, or Storage Ship. They can be submitted to any stockpile that accept Radios to transfer their content into it.

Tactics

Radios are only useful in situations where the player needs constant map updates, which is useful when keeping a lookout for enemy partisans. However, this is only useful when under your faction's map coverage.

It is highly recommended that only logistics players, squad leaders, and other key roles equip themselves with a Radio. Regular infantry are not recommended to equip a radio since they may die, quickly lose it.

Trivia

  • Prior to Update 0.8, Radios were extremely common due to their inexpensive cost and short production time, allowing tons of players to equip them without the need for straining logistics. This was later changed by increasing their cost and production time, making them more scarce.
  • Radios are one of the few items that do not affect the players look when equipped.
