In-game description

The Buckhorn CCQ-18 Bayonet is a Rifle attachment specially designed to stab and kill enemy soldiers at close range.

Description

The Buckhorn CCQ-18 is a melee attachment weapon that can be attached to any Rifle, Long Rifle, or Heavy Rifle except those that are selective-fire (Sampo Auto-Rifle 77, Catena rt.IV Auto-Rifle). Attaching and detaching the bayonet from the rifle is done through a 3 second animation that does not immobilize the player. It stays attached to the rifle even if the player switches to another weapon. When attached, it allows the rifle to do a quick or charged attack to stab a soldier in front of the player while still being able to fire normally.

A quick attack deals 55 Melee damage and consumes 15% of the player's Stamina bar. A charged attack deals 100 Melee damage. Charging takes 1 second and consumes about 3.5% Stamina per second as long as the player is holding the attack. Releasing the charged attack consumes 20% Stamina. The quick attack can be parried by a Melee Weapon, resulting in the attacker consuming double stamina (loses 15% of Stamina bar) and dealing no damage. Players cannot do bayonet attacks if they have less than 20% of Stamina left.

Unlike Fists, it can hurt friendly players and attacking does not immobilize the player. Players can never be wounded by melee damage, it always kill them. Only the Warden's Armour Uniform can reduce melee damage received by 50%, requiring 2 charged stabs to kill.

Storage

It does not stack in structure or vehicle inventories (1 per slot). It can only be stored in the stockpile of Bases (32k max).
Crates of Buckhorn CCQ-18 can be directly submitted to any item stockpile that accepts that item to transfer their content. The crates can also be stored in the crate stockpiles of Storage Depots (1000 public, 100 per Reserve Stockpile), Seaports (1000 public, 100 per Reserve Stockpile), Shipping Containers (60), or Storage Ships (1000).
It can be transported by almost any vehicle with inventory slots. However it is much more efficient to transport it in bulk amounts as crates, either delivering them to a Base's stockpile with a Truck or to a crate stockpile with shipping vehicles carrying Shipping Containers.

Tactics

While bayonets can guarantee killing players, they are situational weapons as they require the soldier to 'close the gap' between their foes. This tactic relies on speed and manoeuvrability, which is affected by the soldier's weight.

Bayonets are useful for decrewing vehicles with exposed crews, such as Field Guns, Bicycles, and Motorcycles. It cannot hit soldiers inside enclosed vehicles or structures. This tactic is useful if the player wants to capture a vehicle, without potentially destroying it.
