Versioning

This article is considered accurate for the current version (1.56) of the game.

This variant of the Bonesaw MK.3 is specially designed for use with tripod mounts. This affords it with increased stability and maximum potential range.
In-game description

The Mounted Bonesaw MK.3 is a large Warden Mounted Anti-Tank RPG that fires ARC⧸RPGs when mounted.

Uses

Specifications

As a Mounted Weapon, it must be deployed on a mounting point (Tripod, certain Half-Tracks, Gunboats) to be used. When mounted its mount receives a dedicated ammo slot that can hold 8 ARC/RPGs. Its firing arc is limited to 90 degrees and depends on the mount's direction.

It fires a slow-moving ARC⧸RPG in a very curved indirect trajectory, similar to a grenade. The projectile explodes on contact or automatically after 2 seconds if it's still in the air. By default its explosion deals 600 Armour Piercing damage at its center and decreasing amounts in a 2m radius. It is meant to be used on armored vehicles and deals great damage against them but it can also deal moderate damage against structures if need be.

It deals tremendous damage to armored vehicles with a high penetration chance but deals mediocre damage to structures.

Its range is 37 meters on flat ground, and a couple meters further if deployed on an elevated position.

It is a Large Item carried on the shoulder.

It is the mounted version of the Bonesaw MK.3, with a longer range and higher fire rate.

Usage

  1. To mount it press B then aim at the mount and press LMB.
  2. Press Q to operate the gun (crouching might be required for low-height deployed tripods).
  3. To reload, an ARC/RPG needs to be either in the mount's inventory or in the shooter's backpack (priority for backpack if both).
  4. To remove it from its mount, open up the mount's menu with E and click the "Detach Tripod Weapon" button Pack Up UI Icon.png (located in the bottom right corner).

Aiming
Unlike other RPG launchers, it is aimed much more like a Grenade. Unlike the handheld Bonesaw MK.3 your max range can be increased slightly by aiming at a high position (top of a structure or vehicle, hill, etc).

Storage

The Mounted Bonesaw MK.3 does not stack in inventories (1 per slot).

It is a Large Item, a soldier can only carry one at a time on their shoulder.

It can be stored in Base stockpiles but also in Material Pallets, Rooster - Tumblebox Trailer, or Material Transfer Stations.

Mounted Bonesaw MK.3 crates can be stored in the stockpile of a Storage Depot, Seaport, or Storage Ship. Crates can be submitted to any stockpile that accept Mounted Bonesaw MK.3 to transfer their content into it.

Tactic

The weapon's indirect trajectory allows you to fire from behind cover, hidden and protected. Finding high ground to fire is important to maximize your range.

The Bonesaw's shell doesn't get any penetration bonuses from range and angle, so it is not necessary to attempt to shoot the sides or rear of armored vehicles or to fire from very close.

Deployed tripod weapons are invisible at night, just like infantry, making them an excellent tool to ambush armored vehicles at night. They can also be hidden by being placed inside bushes, but are revealed to people within 10m. Only their firing effects (smoke and flashes from the barrel) will betray their presence.

Due to the shell's firing arc, you can deploy the weapon on a tripod behind a tall cover and safely fire over it without needing a direct line of sight with your target.

It is a powerful stationary anti-vehicle weapon that must be covered by friendly infantry or friendly defenses.

It's best to deploy and fire multiple bonesaw simultaneously, to ambush and disable the armored target in a single volley and thus prevent it from retreating out of range and repairing.

The shell travels slowly so it is sometimes possible for drivers to react to the bonesaw firing sound and retreat to dodge the shell.

When used on a half-track the fast reload and high damage of the shell allows the vehicle to kill Light Tanks in a 1vs1 fight as long as it stays close enough for the bonesaw to hit the target.

Tips

  • Use prepared in advance tripod positions.
  • Using a Motorcycle with Bonesaw and tripod in inventory while the driver carries the ammo in their backpack is the best option to be quite mobile for a low price. You can also use an ambulance or LUV.
  • Wardens can use the Heavy Ammo Uniform to carry more shells.
  • Firing at infantry isn't effective and not worth it.
