The Catara mo.II (simply known as a Catara) is a Colonial Light Machine Gun that fires 12.7mm.
Description
The Catara mo.II is a Colonial automatic 12.7mm primary weapon with medium damage (35-52 
), high fire rate (240 round/min), long range (27m effective, 40m maximum), 30 round magazine, heavy weight (250), and mediocre accuracy. It loses accuracy quickly when firing and when moving so a stable firing position is recommended. The crouched stance and full cover are needed to not lose any accuracy while firing. Unlike other handheld 12.7mm Machine Guns, the Catara does not slow down the player when held in hands and it can be fired while standing without cover.
Its relatively low accuracy even when stable makes it more suited for medium range fights against infantry. It is also good at suppressing garrisoned structures, infantry, and exposed vehicle gunners. It is very effective against unarmoured vehicles. It can do damage to light armoured vehicles but rarely kill them. It's very ineffective against heavy armoured vehicles, such as Tanks or Field Weapons, and against ships. With its 12.7mm caliber, it is able to destroy certain weak structures.
The Soldier Uniform reduces the gun's weight by 25%.
It does not stack in the player's inventory (1 per slot).

Storage
It does not stack in structure or vehicle inventories (1 per slot).It can only be stored in the stockpile of Bases (32k max).
Crates of Catara mo.II can be directly submitted to any item stockpile that accepts that item to transfer their content.The crates can also be stored in the crate stockpiles of Storage Depots (1000 public, 100 per Reserve Stockpile), Seaports (1000 public, 100 per Reserve Stockpile), Shipping Containers (60), or Storage Ships (1000).
It can be transported by almost any vehicle with inventory slots. However it is much more efficient to transport it in bulk amounts as crates, either delivering them to a Base's stockpile with a Truck or to a crate stockpile with shipping vehicles carrying Shipping Containers.
Tactics
It can be very effective to destroy Watch Towers as infantry, only two magazines are needed per tower. A single soldier can carry enough ammo to destroy 4.5 Watch Towers and remain relatively lightweight.
It is the only weapon using 12.7mm that can be used on an undeployed Barge.
Trivia
- Prior to the introduction of faction specific small arms in Update 0.42 the Catara was also used by the Wardens and was referred to simply as an "LMG". This version of the weapon used 7.92mm ammunition, a feature it retained until update 0.44.
- The Catara seems to be a Lewis Gun Mark III, with its iconic pan magazine and deleted barrel shroud. The barrel and handguard portion of the gun seems to be based on a M1918 Browning Automatic Rifle (BAR). The Soviet DP-27/28 light machine gun may also have influenced the design. The pan magazine is also very similar to that of the gas operated Vickers K machine guns of World War 2.
