In-game description

The Bonesaw MK.3 is a Warden handheld Anti-Tank RPG that fires ARC⧸RPGs in an arc.

Description

The Bonesaw MK.3 is Warden launcher primary weapon. It can fire ARC/RPGs up to 25m (slightly more if on elevated position) with perfect accuracy and at a rate of 10.9 per minute. The launcher is always perfectly stable. It significantly slows down the player when wielded and is relatively heavy (165).

The ARC⧸RPG projectile it fires follows a very curved indirect trajectory similar to a grenade. It explodes on contact or automatically after 2 seconds if it's still in the air. It deals 647 Armour Piercing damage at its center and decreasing amounts in a 2m radius.

It is effective against armored vehicles however it needs to penetrate the vehicle armor in order to deal its damage. It can disable Vehicle Subsystems. It can also deal moderate damage against structures in a pinch.

It does not stack in the player's inventory (1 per slot).

Usage

Aiming
Unlike most launchers, it is aimed much more like a Grenade, as it shoots its projectile in an arc.

Must be fully researched in the Weapons and Structures IconFilterWeaponsStructures.png Tech Tree in order to be produced.

Mass Production Factory orders must have at least 3 crates.

Storage

It does not stack in structure or vehicle inventories (1 per slot). It can only be stored in the stockpile of Bases (32k max).
Crates of Bonesaw MK.3 can be directly submitted to any item stockpile that accepts that item to transfer their content. The crates can also be stored in the crate stockpiles of Storage Depots (1000 public, 100 per Reserve Stockpile), Seaports (1000 public, 100 per Reserve Stockpile), Shipping Containers (60), or Storage Ships (1000).
It can be transported by almost any vehicle with inventory slots. However it is much more efficient to transport it in bulk amounts as crates, either delivering them to a Base's stockpile with a Truck or to a crate stockpile with shipping vehicles carrying Shipping Containers.

Tactics

The weapon's indirect trajectory allows the player to fire from behind cover, hidden and protected. Finding high ground to fire is important to maximize their range.

The Bonesaw's shell doesn't get any penetration bonuses from range and angle, so it is not necessary to attempt to shoot the sides or rear of armored vehicle or to fire from very close.

The player can carry the Bonesaw launcher and up to 4 ARC/RPGs without being overencumbered (6 with the Warden Heavy Ammo Uniform).

To conserve mobility and to not become a high priority target, it is recommended for the player to move with their secondary equipped and to only draw the launcher just before use.

Trivia

  • The design and icon for the Bonesaw MK.3 appear to be based off the British PIAT anti-tank weapon.
  • The Mounted Bonesaw MK.3 is a separate version of the Bonesaw MK.3 which must be mounted on a Tripod.
