The pride of the Warden anti-armour arsenal, the Bonesaw MK.3 has one job: to cut through the heavy metal plating of Colonial tanks.
In-game description

The Bonesaw MK.3 (simply known as a Bonesaw) is a Warden handheld Anti-Tank RPG that fires ARC⧸RPGs in an arc.

Description

The Bonesaw MK.3 is an Anti-Tank RPG for the warden faction. It fires ARC⧸RPGs in a very curved indirect trajectory, similar to a grenade, allowing it to be fired over obstacles. It is the handheld version of the Mounted Bonesaw MK.3. Its shell deals the most damage of all RPG launchers. It is especially destructive against armored vehicles due to its high penetration chance but it is very mediocre against structures.

Its range is shorter than the colonial Venom c.II 35 when fired on flat ground (25m vs 28m) but can reach up to 40m if fired from high enough ground. Unlike other RPGs and Grenades, the shell has no timer and doesn't automatically explode after a certain distance is travelled. The weapon's range is only limited by the maximum curvature of its trajectory and the shooter's elevation.

Like every other RPG Launchers and Anti-Tank RPGs, the Bonesaw slows you down when equipped (on top of the encumbrance slowdown). It is recommended to move with your secondary weapon equipped and to only draw the weapon just before use. Due to the weight of the weapon and shells, you can only carry the Bonesaw itself and 3 shells if you don't want to be overencumbered. You can reduce the weight of the shells by wearing a Heavy Ammo Uniform (warden only).

Tactics

The weapon's indirect trajectory allows you to fire from behind cover, hidden and protected. Finding high ground to fire is important to maximize your range.

The Bonesaw's shell doesn't get any penetration bonuses from range and angle, so it is not necessary to attempt to shoot the sides or rear of armored vehicle or to fire from very close.

Aiming

Unlike most launchers, it is aimed much more like a Grenade, as it shots its projectile in an arc. When aiming, you're never firing at a point above your cursor. Beyond the weapon's max range, your cursor's position no longer changes the curved trajectory of your white aim line.

Trivia

  • The design and icon for the Bonesaw MK.3 appear to be based off the British PIAT anti-tank weapon.
  • Despite technically being two different weapons, the Mounted Bonesaw MK.3 is simply a mounted version of it, except that it needs to be mounted in order to be fired. While they are practically identical in function, they are used in different combat situations.
