This article is considered accurate for the current version (1.56) of the game.

The precursor to the storm rifle, the Sampo Auto-Rifle, is a mastercraft of its day. With a single shot and automatic fire mode, this versatile rifle may not reach the fire rates of automatic weapons but more than makes up for it with utility.
In-game description

The Sampo Auto-Rifle 77 (simply known as a Sampo) is a Warden Auto-Rifle that can fire either in automatic or semi-automatic mode.

Description

The Sampo Auto-Rifle 77 is an advanced rifle with two firing modes, semi-auto and auto, which the player can swap between with F. Because of this, it cannot use a Bayonet. The gun loses less stability during movement than other rifles, complementing the automatic fire mode. However, the Sampo is far less effective at range than other rifle class weapons, even on semi-auto mode.

The Soldier Uniform reduces the Sampo's Encumbrance by 25%.

Tactics

When switched to automatic fire the Sampo cannot drop below 40% stability simply from movement, much like Submachine Guns. This makes the Sampo an excellent choice for assaulting trenches and clearing bunkers.

In the semi-auto fire mode, the Sampo will kill in a minimum of three shots, however a high max damage means two shot kills are fairly common.

While the Sampo's fire modes allow the user to adapt to any scenario, its range is noticeably worse than other rifles.

Trivia

  • The rifle is likely named after a magical device in old Finnish mythos.
    • Usually, a Finnish naming scheme implies a weapon to be of Nevish origin
    • However, just like it's succesor the Aalto Storm Rifle 24, the Sampo is actually a Caoivish design
  • The Sampo's design highly resembles that of the No.2 Loughcaster, with it's design possibly being based of the real life Pedersen device that was used to convert american M1903 Springfield bolt-action rifles into semi-automatic firearms
