The world of Foxhole has far more to it than the playable area, which is mentioned to us through different lore pieces and sources. We also have access to several maps made by the developers to showcase the state of the world. Unfortunately, all of these maps except the one seen on the deployment screen are currently heavily outdated, serving only to give us a vague idea of what the world actually looks like.
For some context, the planet (which is yet unnamed) is meant to simply be an alternate version of Earth, so it and the Solar System should be considered to be the same. In terms of relative size, the playable area (not counting the outermost layer of regions) is meant to be roughly the size of real-life France.
Continents
There are mainly two continents that are known to us. The Alliant Union, despite being a state, is referenced to alongside the two other continents,[1] making us believe it is perhaps the size of one, but is included in the Countries section of this page instead.
Raka
Location of the playable map,[2] and presumably home to most nations known to us. Some of the confirmed countries would include Caoiva, Nicnevin, Veli and Mesea.
Katoma
A continent located to the far West of the playable map, separated by the Aging Ocean.[3] It has been the subject of much interest from the Mesean Republic,[4] which has apparently established colonies and settled the continent.[5]
It is theorised to be the possible location of states such as Leiloa Fa and Wenitai.
Nations
Caoiva
A region consisting of most of the playable game world and the home nation of the Wardens. It is one of the founding members of the Nevish Alliance. Its old capital is the city of Sunhaven.
- Cultural Inspiration: Celtic (mainly Gaellic).
- Adjective: Caoivish.
Nicnevin
A kingdom bordering the majority (if not all) of the northern border of Caoiva. Some parts of the map, specifically Nevish Line and Callum's Cape, are stated to be part of their territory. It is the leader of the Nevish Alliance.
- Cultural Inspiration: Finnish and Swedish.
- Adjective: Nevish.
Mesea
A nation at the center of the Mesean Republic and origin of the Colonial Legion, located to the southeast of the map. Its capital is believed to be a city bearing the same name, Mesea.
- Cultural Inspiration: Latin/Italian.
- Adjective: Mesean.
Veli
A nation that is part of the Mesean Republic. A chunk of the southern map has historically been part of Veli, although the majority of its land is located south of the playable area. Its capital is the city of Damokratos. The grant majority of Colonials fighting on the Caoivish front are likely from this state.
- Cultural Inspiration: Greek.
- Adjective: Velian.
Kraunia
A country part of the Mesean Republic, located to the southwest of the playable area.[6] It is a notably industrialised state, producing many designs of colonial equipment such as the 85K and 86K series of tanks.
- Cultural Inspiration: French.
- Adjective: Kraunian.
Estrella
Nation to the East of the playable area and the origin to many pieces of equipment neutral to both factions. For the longest time it was believed to be a neutral state in the conflict, but recent evidence suggests that it may have joined the Mesean Republic at one point or another.[7]
- Cultural Inspiration: Spanish/Galician.
- Adjective: Estrellan.
Sorovia
Sometimes also referred to as Sorov,[8] it is a nation located outside of the playable map, on a peninsula southwest of Nicnevin.[9] It is ruled by a monarchy and is part of the Nevish Alliance.[10][11]
- Cultural Inspiration: Unknown, believed to be Scandinavian.
- Adjective: Sorovian.
Edel
Nation that is part of the Nevish Alliance, theorised to be located to the East of the playable map, with access to the sea.[12]
- Cultural Inspiration: Norwegian or German.
- Adjective: Edelian.
Wenitai
A far western country, outside the playable area, that is believed to be part of the Nevish Alliance.[10]
- Cultural Inspiration: Unknown.
- Adjective: Unknown.
Leiloa Fa
A far western nation, outside the playable area, that seems to have been colonised and incorporated by the Mesean Republic.[7] It is known to have notable deserts, with the Republic utilising mercenaries known as the Bronze Men in the area.[13]
- Cultural Inspiration: Unknown, possibly Maori/Polynesian.
- Adjective: Unknown.
Alliant Union
A nation part of the Mesean Republic,[7] having been part of or at least aligned with the Republic for over 300 years.[14] It is presumably of considerable size, being mentioned alongside continents such as Raka or Katoma.[1]

Aktío
A nation part of the Mesean Republic.[7][15]
- Cultural Inspiration: Unknown.
- Adjective: Unknown.
Picaria
A nation part of the Mesean Republic,[7] theorised to be located to the East of the map. It is the homeland of the pirate captain and deserter Ur Deadtooh.[16]
- Cultural Inspiration: Unknown.
- Adjective: Picarian.
Cities
Abandoned Ward
Abandoned Ward is the largest settlement in the Deadlands and the old Capital of Caoiva,[17] located on the shores of the River Mercy. It was formerly known as Sunhaven before its capture by the Colonials, having been founded by the country's first Archon Iain Callahan. Before unification, the surrounding area was part of neutral territory not ruled by any of the surrounding clans. It was here where Callahan and his allies would meet and agree on unifying the country.[18]
Whedon's Row
Whedon's Rowis an independent city state to the northeast of the map[19] serving as capital of the exiled Caoivish government, which is hosted in a fortress within the city known as the Fastness. While the city is considered "Warden territory" is it not part of their original homeland.[20] Despite this, the city is known to house many Caoivish refugees who fled to escape the Colonial advance.[21][22] Curiously, the civilians of Whedon's Row appear to be exempted from drafting.[11]
The city is known to be a mountain fortress, with colonials having attempted and failed to take it during the Boreal Wars.[23] It also has access to the sea, with major ports as well as a wide open shoreline. However, Caoivish defensive preparations would scare away Colonial attempts to land there.[24]
Callum's Keep
Callum's Keep is an old fortress turned city located in Callum's Cape. It was the home of the powerful Callum Clan and the centre of their Kingdom that remained independent until the area was taken by the Kingdom of Nicnevin.[25]
It is believed that the construction of the Keep was funded almost exclusively through money obtained from deals made with the Golden Empire of Mesea, to whom the Callum Clan sent foot soldiers and warships to aid in the conquests of foreign lands.[26]
Dimiourg
Dimiourg is an industrialized western city-state that is part of the Mesean Republic.[23] It appears to be culturally similar to the neighbouring Velian nation, and similarly to Kraunia provides many tank designs for the Legion, such as the H-5 “Hatchet”.
At some point in time it appears to have gone through some internal strife, with a period of severe riots overcoming the city. During this time rebels would take over a prototype of the O-75b “Ares” super tank and use it against Colonial forces, eventually being defeated, although not without much effort.[27]
Therizó
Therizó is a city in Veli, and the largest of its northern settlements. It is located in the bay region of Terminus and is one of Veli’s most recently established cities. Sprouting up around the large swaths of farmland in the district, the little village expanded to accommodate the influx of farmers brought in to maintain the land. While at the frontline during the Great Wars, it was given time to prosper during a period of peace known as the Dead Years. Having remained under Warden occupation for decades, northern influence is apparent in the city, with it likely being fully assimilated had the occupation continued.[28]
It is particularly notable for being the birthplace of the Velian Legate Thea Maro, as well as the location of her grave.
The city is apparently also known for producing high quality tobacco, which would be illegaly smuggled North.[29]
Damokratos
Damokratos is the Velian capital,[30] located to the far south on the shores of the Red River.
