An old war Mesean rifle. It boasts high stopping power, but not as accurate as its modern variant. A weapon of legend, the Howling Lions wielded the Volta during their raid on the beaches of Fisherman’s Row.
In-game description

The Volta r.I Repeater (simply known as a Volta) is a Colonial Heavy Rifle. It uses 7.62mm as ammunition.

Description

It is a Colonial lever-action primary weapon with very high damage (78-117 SubtypeSBIcon.png), slow fire rate (27.6 rounds/min), long range (29.5m effective, 35.5m max), and a 8 round magazine. It has a good accuracy and very heavy recoil. Its aim stabilizes a bit slowly and it loses stability quickly from movements. It is thus best fired from a stable position. It has a 45% chance to down in one shot within its effective range which is conveniently slightly longer than standard rifles. Its maximum range is too low to engage targets at long range (>33m) like Long Rifles.

As a Heavy Rifle the Volta r.I slows the player's turn rate and reduces their sprint speed by 20% when held.

It can use a bayonet.

The Soldier Uniform reduces the Volta's weight by 25%.

It does not stack in the player's inventory (1 per slot).

Must be fully researched in the Weapons and Structures IconFilterWeaponsStructures.png Tech Tree in order to be produced.

Mass Production Factory orders must have at least 3 crates.

Storage

It does not stack in structure or vehicle inventories (1 per slot). It can only be stored in the stockpile of Bases (32k max).
Crates of Volta r.I Repeater can be directly submitted to any item stockpile that accepts that item to transfer their content. The crates can also be stored in the crate stockpiles of Storage Depots (1000 public, 100 per Reserve Stockpile), Seaports (1000 public, 100 per Reserve Stockpile), Shipping Containers (60), or Storage Ships (1000).

It can be transported by almost any vehicle with inventory slots. However it is much more efficient to transport it in bulk amounts as crates, either delivering them to a Base's stockpile with a Truck or to a crate stockpile with shipping vehicles carrying Shipping Containers.

Tactics

The Volta's slow fire rate makes it very risky to use in open ground without cover. Holding the repeater substantially slows the user's sprinting and turning speed, making it ill-suited for attacking enemy positions and less effective with a bayonet than other rifles. However, its high damage and good range makes it a powerful defensive weapon during the day at typical rifle range (25-30m).

Trivia

  • The Volta was originally introduced as a Relic Rifle that could only be found in Relic vaults.
  • The Volta appears to be a lever-action rifle with an internal box magazine, perhaps inspired by the Winchester 1895. The tubular receiver is more reminiscent of a Remington Model 8.
  • In poetry, a Volta is a non-sequitur lyric that alters the poetic structure and theme of a verse. The Volta is particularly common in the poetry of the European renaissance.
