A shell that is launched over short distances by a spigot mortar.
In-game description

250mm is a large Shell used by large mortar cannons that is extremely powerful against structures, especially strong ones.

Description

It has travel time and follows an indirect curved trajectory much like a Grenade. However its trajectory is not shown by a white line when aiming the cannon firing it. It is fired similarly to a handheld mortar by selecting a range. Its range is between 6 and 25 meters.

It explodes on contact or automatically after 1.75 seconds if it's still in the air.

By default its explosion deals 983 Demolition damage in a 2.5m radius and decreasing amounts in a 5m radius.

It's extremely effective against all structures, especially very resistant ones such as concrete structures

Its damage against armored vehicles is mediocre and its aim system makes it difficult to hit moving targets.

It is too expensive to use against infantry or unarmored vehicles.

It is a Large Item and thus each shell must be loaded one at a time, carried on a soldier's shoulder.

Its weight is reduced by 33.3% when wearing a Heavy Ammo Uniform.

It has a chance to turn into ruins Garrisoned Houses that suffer from devastation.

Storage

It does not stack in inventories (1 per slot) except in ammo slots dedicated to it in certain vehicle or structure inventories (varying stack sizes).
It can be stored in stockpiles of Bases (32k max) but also in Material Pallets (60), Rooster - Tumblebox Trailer (20), Material Transfer Stations (1000), Small Flatbed Car (50) or Storage Rooms (100).
Crates of 250mm can be directly submitted to any item stockpile that accepts that item to transfer their content. The crates can also be stored in the crate stockpiles of Storage Depots (1000 public, 100 per Reserve Stockpile), Seaports (1000 public, 100 per Reserve Stockpile), Shipping Containers (60), or Storage Ships (1000).

It can be transported by almost any vehicle with inventory slots, but is most commonly transported by Trucks, Small Flatbed Car, or shipping vehicles carrying Material Pallets. It can also be transported as crates, either delivering them to a Base's stockpile with a Truck or to a crate stockpile with shipping vehicles carrying Shipping Containers.

Trivia

  • Prior to 1.50 Inferno, the 250mm shell was a regular, single stack item. It later became a Large Item, increasing its logistical requirements, but allowed for more flexibility when it came to its transportation via Material Pallets
