No.2B Hawthorne
This page is timeless and should be accurate for any version of Foxhole.
“ | Initially a field-modified Loughcaster, the Hawthorne sports a sawed-off barrel and a much lower profile than its ancestor. While sacrificing accuracy, its lightweight frame opens up the Hawthorne to a much higher degree of flexibility in battle and can be carried alongside a heavier primary firearm. | „ |
— In-game description |
The No.2B Hawthorne is a Warden sawn-off bolt action rifle. It uses 7.62mm ammo.
Description
It is a Warden 7.62mm secondary weapon with rifle-like damage (39-58 ), medium range (22m effective, 35m max), mediocre fire rate (60 rounds/min), and 8 round magazine. It has decent accuracy but high recoil. Movements make it lose its stability quickly but not all of it, thus it benefits from a stable firing position. It kills in 2-3 shots at 24m. Compared to the default pistol, it trades a bit of fire rate and agility for more damage and range. However it does not replace a primary weapon.
It can be equiped with a Bayonet but not with an Ospreay grenade launcher.
As a secondary weapon, it can be drawn and aimed relatively quickly even when low on Stamina.
The Soldier Uniform reduces the gun's weight by 25%.
It does not stack in the player's inventory (1 per slot).

Must be fully researched in the Weapons and Structures Tech Tree in order to be produced.
Mass Production Factory orders must have at least 3 crates.
Storage
It does not stack in structure or vehicle inventories (1 per slot). It can only be stored in the stockpile of Bases (32k max).
Crates of No.2B Hawthorne can be directly submitted to any item stockpile that accepts that item to transfer their content. The crates can also be stored in the crate stockpiles of Storage Depots (1000 public, 100 per Reserve Stockpile), Seaports (1000 public, 100 per Reserve Stockpile), Shipping Containers (60), or Storage Ships (1000).
It can be transported by almost any vehicle with inventory slots. However it is much more efficient to transport it in bulk amounts as crates, either delivering them to a Base's stockpile with a Truck or to a crate stockpile with shipping vehicles carrying Shipping Containers.
Tactics
The No.2B Hawthorne is great for vehicle crews. Since it is a secondary weapon, which allows crews to quickly switch equipment if the crew was repairing their vehicle, but was ambushed by enemies, they can easily retaliate against them. Despite this ability, players should not put themselves in this situation.
It also allows tank commanders and passengers on vehicles to effectively defend themselves at longer ranges (kills in 2-3 shots at 24m).
It's not ideal as a backup close combat weapon for supporting class (Medics, snipers, Machine gunners and the like) because the gun loses stability from movements and fires relatively slowly. 7.62mm ammo also does not stack in Medic Uniforms. Other secondary weapons are usually more suited for close quarters because they have either higher fire rate or higher damage.
Trivia
- According to the devblog[1], the introduction of the No.2B Hawthorne was to give the Warden faction a counterpart to the “The Pitch Gun” mc.V.
- Despite one being a rifle and the other a submachine gun, both are counterparts in that they are secondary weapons, allowing vehicle crews, like Commanders, to shoot out of the vehicle with weapons other than a pistol.
