This shoulder-mounted heavy launcher is the first of its kind. It features heavy blast shielding and is capable of launching anti-tank charges over relatively large distances.
In-game description

The Bane 45 (simply known as a Bane) is a long-range Colonial Anti-Tank RPG. It fires AP⧸RPGs, and is specially designed as a defensive Anti-Tank weapon.

Uses

Specifications

  • It fires an AP⧸RPG that travels at a speed of 32 m/s and is affected by gravity. The projectile detonates on impact or past 40m which is the launcher's maximum range.
  • By default the projectile's explosion deals 550 Armour Piercing damage at its center and decreasing amounts in a 2m radius. It is meant to be used on armored vehicles and deals great damage against them but it can also deal moderate damage against structures if need be.
  • Unlike the Venom c.II 35, it can only be fired from a standing position if the player has solid cover.
  • Wielding the launcher slows down the player significantly.
  • Due to the encumbrance of the weapon and projectiles, which cannot be reduced by any colonial uniform, the player can only carry the launcher itself and 3 projectiles without being overencumbered.
  • It deals the same damage amount and has the same armor penetration chance as the Venom c.II 35.

Usage

Aiming
Aiming with a Bane 45 is similar to regular firearms, in that it will shoot a projectile in a straight line, however the projectile is affected by gravity and will have a slight downward trajectory. They are perfectly accurate and the projectile explodes at the exact point where the aim line becomes red (hits an obstacle or reaches its max range).

To make use of its max range on flat terrain, players must aim at a point higher than their actual target to compensate for the RPG's bullet drop, otherwise the projectile impacts the ground before reaching the target. So when firing at armored vehicles at max range, players should aim at the top of the vehicle so the round will hit around the center of the vehicle instead.

When firing at structures from a short distance, players should NOT aim at the top of the structure because your actual aim point will be slightly above it, just like firearms, and the projectile risks flying over the structure.

Storage

The Bane 45 does not stack in inventories.

It can be stored in Base stockpiles.

Bane 45 crates can be stored in the stockpile of a Storage Depot, Seaport, or Storage Ship. Crates can be submitted to any stockpile that accept Bane 45s to transfer their content into it.

Tactic

Like with other RPG launchers, Bane users are vulnerable to enemy infantry as they cannot effectively fight enemy infantry. This is why you should have one or two soldiers with firearms protecting you that will also carry additional AP⧸RPGs for you. The Bane 45 does have the longest range RPG in the game, so it can be used to deter armored vehicle with its maximum range. It's especially devastating at night against armored vehicles.

To conserve your mobility and to not become a high priority target, it is recommended to move with your secondary equipped and to only draw the Venom just before use.

Coordinated group attacks
One effective tactic for the Bane 45 is to form a large group of Bane 45 users (colloquially called a "Bane Gang") and travel together at night to ambush/destroy enemy armored vehicles. The tactic allows infantry to take on even the larger tanks in the game if enough players joins the group. Due to the vulnerability of those groups (a single enemy infantry can take them all down), it is essential that this tactic uses the element of surprise, and makes use of flanks whenever possible. All participants need to target the same vehicle to ensure that it is fully destroyed, as a heavily damaged vehicle can be repaired and brought back to fighting condition (effectively wasting all those used-up shells).

Smoke Trails
Due to the round that it fires, firing the weapon will leave a visible smoke trail from the user, which will tell enemy infantry/vehicles where you are located, so repositioning after firing is highly recommended to ensure the user's survival.

Trivia

  • The Warden counterpart to the Bane 45 is the Mounted Bonesaw MK.3, which is a tripod-mounted AT weapon. This is one of a few times where the faction counterpart is a different type of weapon/vehicle, but fills a similar role.
  • The design and icon for the Bane 45 appears to be based off the M20 Super bazooka with an added blast plate similar to the one on the German Panzerschreck.
