The PT-815 Smoke Grenade is a non-lethal Smoke Grenade. It creates a smoke cloud that obscures the vision of players and garrisoned structures.
Description
The PT-815 Smoke Grenade is a tertiary weapon that creates a smoke cloud. It can be either thrown by hand to a maximum range of 20 meters at a rate of 24 per minute or launched by certain grenade launchers. Whether thrown or launched it is almost perfectly accurate and always detonates after 2.8 seconds. Upon detonation, it creates a smoke cloud in a 3 meter radius that lasts for 20 seconds.
Players outside the cloud cannot see infantry that are in the cloud or behind it. Players in the cloud cannot see infantry at all, even in the same cloud unless they are right next to them. Unlike bushes, movement within smoke does not break concealment. Player are revealed for a brief moment if they shoot while in the cloud or behind it. Tripods, Emplacements, and Field Weapons are also obscured by smoke except to players that are less than 10m away. The smoke cloud doesn't blind garrisoned defenses but only reduces their maximum range, fire rate, accuracy, and time to acquire a target.
The smoke grenade is best used to support an infantry assault on enemy positions and fortifications.
It does not stack in the player's inventory (1 per slot) except when wearing a Colonial Grenade Uniform (stacks of 2 per slot)
Its weight is reduced by 25% with a Colonial Grenade Uniform.

Must be fully researched in the Weapons and Structures Tech Tree in order to be produced.
Mass Production Factory orders must have at least 3 crates.
Storage
It does not stack in structure or vehicle inventories (1 per slot) except in ammo slots dedicated to it (varying stack sizes). It can be stored in stockpiles of Bases (32k max).
Crates of PT-815 Smoke Grenade can be directly submitted to any item stockpile that accepts that item to transfer their content. The crates can also be stored in the crate stockpiles of Storage Depots (1000 public, 100 per Reserve Stockpile), Seaports (1000 public, 100 per Reserve Stockpile), Shipping Containers (60), or Storage Ships (1000).
It can be transported by almost any vehicle with inventory slots. However it is much more efficient to transport it in bulk amounts as crates, either delivering them to a Base's stockpile with a Truck or to a crate stockpile with shipping vehicles carrying Shipping Containers.
Tactics
Beware as the smoke blocks both enemies and allies' view, and could help the enemy counterattack by spraying down the smoked area or advance through it.
Trivia
- The Smoke Grenade currently appears to be based on the American M18 Smoke Grenade
- Originally, Smoke disabled AI, meaning AI could not target you for the entire duration of the smoke
- This led to smoke becoming an extremely powerful tool, eventually causing it to be temporarily removed from the game
