In-game description

The A3 Harpa Fragmentation Grenade (simply known as a Harpa) is a Warden fragmentation Grenade.

Description

The A3 Harpa Fragmentation Grenade is a Warden tertiary weapon that can be either thrown by hand up to 15 meters at a rate of 24 per minute or launched further by certain grenade launchers. Whether thrown or launched it is almost perfectly accurate regardless of stability and has a 4 second fuze. The explosion deals 200 Light Kinetic damage at the point of impact and decreasing amounts in a 5.5m radius.

It is a strictly anti-infantry grenade. It deals no damage to Structures and mediocre amounts to even unarmored Vehicles.Infantry inside structures or unexposed vehicle seats can't be hurt by it.

It does not stack in the player's inventory (1 per slot) except when wearing a Colonial Grenade Uniform (stacks of 2 per slot)

Its weight is reduced by 25% with a Colonial Grenade Uniform.

Usage

Throwing the grenade:

  1. Hold down RMB. The grenade's trajectory becomes visible.
  2. Press LMB to throw it. LMB can be held to start the fuze then released to throw the grenade so it explodes earlier. If held too long the grenade explodes in the player's hand!
  3. After the throw, if a grenade of the same type exists in the backpack, it is automatically be equipped.

Launching the grenade:
Alternatively it can be launched by certain grenade launchers for a longer range. The following infantry weapons, vehicles, and structures can launch it:

Storage

It does not stack in structure or vehicle inventories (1 per slot) except in ammo slots dedicated to it (varying stack sizes). It can be stored in stockpiles of Bases (32k max).
Crates of A3 Harpa Fragmentation Grenade can be directly submitted to any item stockpile that accepts that item to transfer their content. The crates can also be stored in the crate stockpiles of Storage Depots (1000 public, 100 per Reserve Stockpile), Seaports (1000 public, 100 per Reserve Stockpile), Shipping Containers (60), or Storage Ships (1000).
It can be transported by almost any vehicle with inventory slots. However it is much more efficient to transport it in bulk amounts as crates, either delivering them to a Base's stockpile with a Truck or to a crate stockpile with shipping vehicles carrying Shipping Containers.

Trivia

  • The A3 Harpa Fragmentation Grenade is based on the American Mk. 2 Grenade.
  • Despite being called a fragmentation grenade and modeled off of one, it does not inflict shrapnel damage or guaranteed bleed.
  • Humorously, despite the Harpa ostensibly being the reason for the existence of the Velian Flak Vest the flak vest has no impact on the survivability of a Harpa's Explosion. Players wearing Flak vests receive lethal damage within the same ranges as players without, and only benefit from a slight 9 to 13% reduction to the damage outside a Harpa's lethal radius.
