Tripod
“ | A mount point for deployable infantry weapons and equipment. | „ |
— In-game description |
The Tripod is a large utility item that serves as a mounting point for Mounted Equipment and Mounted Weapons when deployed.
Description
The Tripod is a Tripod Mount that is deployed to become a Deployed Tripod structure. As a Large Item, the player can only carry one at a time in their "Large Item" slot, occupying both hands. It can be deployed on nearly any terrain, on top of structures, and even inside structures. It cannot be deployed in knee-deep water, on field bridges, inside barbed wires, on top of AT or AP mines, or in the no-build zone near region borders.
The Deployed Tripod serves as a mounting point to install a Mounted Equipment or Mounted Weapon. Its orientation determines the firing arc of the mounted weapon.
It is neutral, it can be used by the enemy.
Its health can be viewed with a with a Hammer in "upgrade mode". It cannot be repaired with a Hammer and Basic Materials, however it can be instantly healed by simply disassembling and redeploying it.
It is invisible at night, just like infantry. It can also be hidden by being placed inside bushes, but is revealed to people within 10m. It is briefly revealed if the mounted weapon on it is fired.
It is much more resistant than it looks. Unlike every other structure, the deployed tripod uses the damage resistance of light armored vehicles. It takes heavy damage from every anti-tank weaponry. Its amount of health and resistance type makes it very similar to Armoured Cars or Half-Tracks in terms of survivability. It is the only structure with Fire Pit that can be damaged by Light Kinetic damage.
It can also be run over by APCs, Half-Tracks, and Tanks (not Tankettes though).
It is affected by decay and die to it in 48 hours (10 times faster if near Region border) unless it is prevented by Bases or Maintenance Tunnels.

It can be stored in the stockpile of Bases (32k max) but also in Material Pallets (120), Material Transfer Stations (1000), Rooster - Tumblebox Trailer (32), Small Flatbed Car (100) or Storage Rooms (100).
Crates of Tripod can be directly submitted to any item stockpile that accepts that item to transfer their content. The crates can also be stored in the crate stockpiles of Storage Depots (1000 public, 100 per Reserve Stockpile), Seaports (1000 public, 100 per Reserve Stockpile), Shipping Containers (60), or Storage Ships (1000).
It can be transported by almost any vehicle with inventory slots, but is most commonly transported by Trucks, Small Flatbed Car, or shipping vehicles carrying Material Pallets. It can also be transported as crates, either delivering them to a Base's stockpile with a Truck or to a crate stockpile with shipping vehicles carrying Shipping Containers.
Tactics
Tripods with mounted weapons can be installed on regular terrain but can also be smartly placed on rocks or on top of Bunkers. They can be placed on the edge of trenches. They can ambush the enemy when placed inside large bushes making them invisible. When placed behind cover the tripod, its mounted weapon, and the shooter are invisible. Even with a cover as short as a Sandbag Cover or Storage Box you are invisible to anyone at the same elevation and further than just a few meters if you tuck the tripod as close as possible to the cover.
Using a Motorcycle's inventory to transport a tripod and weapon while you carry the ammo in your backpack can make moving a tripod weapon much faster.
