This single-use rocket can be fired a short distance. Designed to punch holes into tanks, the Ignifist is the perfect tool for infantry anticipating armoured resistance.
In-game description

The Ignifist 30 (also known as an Igni) is a Colonial single-use Anti-Tank RPG that fit in the player's third equipment slot.

Description

The Ignifist 30 is Colonial single-use anti-tank tertiary weapon. It is fired at up to 18m with perfect accuracy. The launcher is always perfectly stable. It slows down the player when wielded and is not very heavy (120). After being fired it is deleted from the player's inventory.

The ignifist projectile travels at 32 m/s in a slightly downward trajectory (affected by gravity) and explodes on impact or automatically at max range. They deal 375 Armour Piercing damage at their center and decreasing amounts in a 2m radius.

It is effective against armored vehicles however it needs to penetrate the vehicle armor in order to deal its damage. It can disable Vehicle Subsystems. It can also deal moderate damage against unfortified structures in a pinch. Like AP/RPG ammo, it has a 50% bonus to its base penetration chance. It gains less penetration bonus to armor from range than other launchers (bonus starts below 15m instead of 30).

It does not stack in the player's inventory (1 per slot).

Usage

Aiming
At long ranges, aiming at the top of the target vehicle or structure helps compensate the projectile drop from gravity.

When targeting structures at short ranges, the player should not aim at their top or the projectile might fly over them. This is due to the weapon's actual aim point being above the player's cursor when it is placed on a structure's flat surface.

Firing
Unlike other consumable weapons like grenades, a new Ignifist is not automatically equipped from the player's inventory after firing. Each one must be manually equipped.

Mass Production Factory orders must have at least 3 crates.

Storage

It does not stack in structure or vehicle inventories (1 per slot). It can only be stored in the stockpile of Bases (32k max).
Crates of Ignifist 30 can be directly submitted to any item stockpile that accepts that item to transfer their content. The crates can also be stored in the crate stockpiles of Storage Depots (1000 public, 100 per Reserve Stockpile), Seaports (1000 public, 100 per Reserve Stockpile), Shipping Containers (60), or Storage Ships (1000).
It can be transported by almost any vehicle with inventory slots. However it is much more efficient to transport it in bulk amounts as crates, either delivering them to a Base's stockpile with a Truck or to a crate stockpile with shipping vehicles carrying Shipping Containers.

Tactics

The Ignifist's unique use of the third equipment slot allows its user to carry a primary weapon for self-defense. As such the Ignifist can be used by regular infantry, as opposed to heavier Anti-Tank RPGs, which normally require a loadout dedicated to the launcher and its ammo. While it's range and damage are inferior to other Anti-Tank RPGs the Ignifist is perhaps better compared to the Anti-Tank Sticky Bomb, which is also equipped in the player's third equipment slot - in addition to having roughly three times the effective range of the sticky grenade, the Ignifist can also be used effectively against structures making it both easier to use and more utilitarian. It is especially devastating at night against armored vehicles, where its short range is less of a hindrance.

To conserve mobility and to not become a high priority target, it is recommended for player to only draw the Ignifist just before use.

Its relative light weight (for a RPG launcher) allows a soldier to carry 4 without being overencumbered.

Trivia

  • The weapon's name derives from the Latin ignis, meaning "fire".
  • The design and icon for the Ignifist 30 appear to be based off the German Panzerfaust series of anti-tank launchers.

It is one of the few AT weapons not to require Refined Materials.
