The Booker Storm Rifle Model 838 (simply known as a Booker) is a Warden three-round burst Assault Rifle using 7.92mm.

Description

It is a Warden primary 7.92mm weapon with three-round burst, rifle-like damage (42-63 Light Kinetic), great fire rate (180 rounds/min), a 36-round magazine, and medium range (25m effective, 32m max). It is best suited for short to mid range engagements. It is particularly deadly since it kills in two bullets 66% of the time and a single burst guarantees a kill if all 3 shots land.

The gun has so little recoil that it can be fired standing outside cover without losing accuracy. It also loses its stability somewhat slowly while moving and doesn't lose any if aiming while walking. Combined with its decent accuracy the gun is deadly at medium range (up to 28m). Its main drawback is its slow stabilization which forces the shooter to carefully manage their stability unless their target is extremely close.

The Soldier Uniform reduces the gun's weight by 25%.

It does not stack in the player's inventory (1 per slot).

Storage

It does not stack in structure or vehicle inventories (1 per slot). It can only be stored in the stockpile of Bases (32k max).
Crates of Booker Storm Rifle Model 838 can be directly submitted to any item stockpile that accepts that item to transfer their content. The crates can also be stored in the crate stockpiles of Storage Depot/Seaport/Aircraft Depot (1000 public, 100 per Reserve Stockpile), Shipping Containers (60), or Storage Ships (1000).
It can be transported by almost any vehicle with inventory slots. However it is much more efficient to transport it in bulk amounts as crates, either delivering them to a Base's stockpile with a Truck or to a crate stockpile with shipping vehicles carrying Shipping Containers.

Tactics

The gun's short range makes it adapted to night and close quarter combat. During a night encounter you can immediately start shooting and keep shooting when other guns would need you to get into a stable position before shooting or risk losing all accuracy very fast. You can move at a decent pace without losing accuracy if you keep aiming and alternate between crouch walking and walking standing. Of course if the enemy flanks and forces you to quickly flick your mouse you will lose the precious accuracy advantage of the gun.

Good cover isn't crucial unlike with other guns because the Booker has zero accuracy loss between bursts even while standing without cover. So cover is only used to help you regain your accuracy faster after a move.

The gun is not recommended if you need to rush into a place before firing, like a trench assault.

Trivia

  • The Booker has shares a very slight similar appearance to the Huot Automatic Rifle, and may have a similar design history- the Huot was the result of heavily modifying Ross straight-pull bolt-action rifles to create light machine guns, and the Booker has a number of components that are similar or identical to parts of the No. 2 Loughcaster.
