In-game description

The BMS Foreman Stacker (also known as a Facility Crane) is a player-built facility structure used to move shippables around.

Construction

It can be built by players on Foundations using a Construction Vehicle and costs 10 Processed Construction Materials. It can't be built less than 10m from another Facility Crane.

Tier 2 Facilities must be fully researched in the Weapons and Structure IconFilterWeaponsStructures.png Tech Tree in order to be constructed.

Modifications

A single Power Line can be connected to it to provide the power required for production. The line can be disconnected by pressing the "Disconnect All Power" BtPowerDisconnect.png button.

Demolition

The original builder, and squad members if reserved, can instantly demolish it BtDemolish.png if it was built less than 28 days ago and the crane arm is not holding anything. The materials used in the construction are refunded and dropped under the player.

Reservation

The original builder can reserve it for a Squad BtReserve.png for 52 hours in the menu to prevent non-members from modifying it. The reservation can be refreshed BtRefreshBunker.png by any squad member. If the reservation expires, the structure can never be reserved again.

Destruction

It is immune to Friendly Fire but it can be flagged for "Disruptive Structure Placement" BtRemove.png to remove the immunity (5 "votes" needed).

Reconstruction

When destroyed, it leaves behind a "husk" that can be destroyed or rebuilt. Reconstruction uses the same tool and materials as the construction. It can only be done by the faction that owned the facility.

Structure Event Log

Clicking the View Actions Log button BtLog.png at the bottom of its interface opens the Structure Event Log that lists recent events, with timestamps and player names displayed. Events recorded include structure modifications and players entering or exiting the structure. The log only displays the last 80 events (5 pages).

Use

Its interface can be accessed by pressing Keyboard e.png when on foot or driving a logistics vehicle.

Crane Operation

It requires 0.5MW of power to function and can be entered by pressing Keyboard q.png (default). Aim and movement of the crane arm is accomplished by pressing and holding Mouse right.svg. While it is held, an icon appears on the ground directly below the crane hook to give information. It is a circular crosshair when aiming at a valid location to deposit the shippable carried and a red circle with a slash through it if not. While carrying a load, the icon changes to a single gear when aiming near a special interaction with a small arrow pointing in its direction. The icon changes to a pair of gears when aiming at a packaged shippable while not carrying a load or when aiming at a special interaction spot while carrying a load. Pressing Mouse left.svg then automatically lifts/deposits the shippable. Examples of special interactions are Flatbed Truck, Freighter, Small Assembly Station, Trench Emplacement, loading area of a Storage Depot.

The crane hook and carried cargo can be rotated using Keyboard a.png and Keyboard d.png (counter clockwise and clockwise respectively).

The arm's range is a little over 20m from the crane's center and its minimum range is approximately 4.5m.

The crane cannot be operated while weapons restricted (too much recent friendly fire).

Trivia

  • When the Facility Crane was introduced in Update 1.50 ('Inferno'), it had the exact same model as the Stationary Crane, which is attached to world structures, such as the Refinery, Seaport, and the Storage Depot.
    • The model was updated in Update 1.51, which added a metal skirt around the base of the structure, which was added to differentiate it.
