A temporary forward operating base. Players can spawn and stockpile items here.
In-game description

The Encampment (also known as a Forward Operating Base, or FOB) is a player-built structure that serves as a Forward Base where players can respawn, and resupply.

Defense

It is significantly weaker than a Town Base or Relic Base in terms of health. It is vulnerable to 12.7mm machine guns and heavy explosives. It has no defensive capabilities and must rely on surrounding player-built defenses that it can garrison in a 80m radius.

The flag on top of it indicates the status of its garrison and the wind direction.

Construction

It can be built with a Construction Vehicle and 300 Basic Materials pretty much anywhere on land except on roads, beaches, bridges, rocks.

Base Upgrades

Base Upgrades are additional functionalities that the base can unlock. They are slowly and automatically unlocked over time. Upgrades progress faster the more people assign their spawn to that base. A particular upgrade can be prioritized by voting for it in the menu of the Base if you've assigned your spawn there. Progression is sped up by things like supplying the base and building structures. You can check the base upgrades unlocked at a given Base by hovering your mouse over its icon on the map.

Image Name Description
"BASE" Tree IconUpgradesBase.png
IconUpgradesProvisionalGarrison.png Provisional Garrison A Provisional Garrison connects the base to nearby defensive structures (80m radius). Defensive structures will deactivate if player activity is too low (<10 player spawns assigned to the base).
IconUpgradesSmallGarrison.png Small Garrison A small Garrison permanently connects the base to nearby defensive structures (80m radius).

Prevents nearby structure decay by consuming Maintenance Supplies from the stockpile.

Husk

When destroyed the encampment leave behind a "husk" that can be rebuilt, just like Bunkers and Trenches. Reconstruction uses the same tool and materials as the construction.

If the faction which previously owned the base rebuilds it then it regains all the Stockpile and every Base Upgrades that were unlocked. But if the enemy faction captures it by rebuilding it then the base keeps 25% of its stock (none of the Soldier Supplies or Maintenance Supplies) and loses all its base upgrades.

The husk has twice the health of the base but it can be destroyed permanently to prevent the enemy faction from rebuilding it.

Tactics

While Encampments are cheaper and require less effort to construct, they are also far weaker and have less flexibility compared to Bunker Bases.

Trivia

  • Prior to Update 1.50 (officially known as 'Inferno'), the Encampment could be upgraded to higher tiers, similar to Bunker Bases
    • Tier 2 would be upgraded into a Field Base, and Tier 3 would be upgraded into an Outpost
    • Upgrading to each Tier would cost 100 Basic Materials
