Bunker
| “ | An underground shelter that serves as a foundation for permanent fortifications. Connects to other Bunkers and Trenches. | „ |
| — In-game description |
A Bunker is a player-built structure partly-dug into the ground with a Shovel. It can be upgraded for more Health and better Resistance and transformed with various Modifications. It can be connected to other Bunkers and Trenches.
Construction
A Tier 1 Bunker is built with a Shovel. Its four edges serve as connection points for other Bunkers (to their sides) and to Trenches (to their ends). Hold
to deactivate auto-snapping.
It can't be built on Beaches, paved areas, ice, roads, or steep slopes.
When attached to another Bunker, the wall between them disappears and they become one single Bunker Network with shared health. If one of the parts gets destroyed, they all get destroyed. Adding a Bunker Corner segment to a Bunker Network slightly decreases its Structural Integrity (0.97).
Tier 2
A Tier 2 Bunker is built by upgrading a Tier 1 Bunker with a Hammer and 75 Basic Materials.
Tier 3
A Tier 3 Bunker is built by upgrading a Tier 2 Bunker with a Hammer and 15 Concrete Materials. The concrete requires 24 hours to dry (longer if there is a Snow Storm or Rain Storm) during which the structure already works but is more vulnerable.
Modifications
Modifications can be added to a Bunker with a Hammer in "Upgrade" mode (switch with
), press
to open the upgrade menu.
Small Modifications
Adding a Small Modification makes your character perform a short construction animation after which the modification appears. The materials will automatically be taken from your inventory. Use to select the orientation and position of the Small Modification when relevant. They can be removed by pressing
on their icon option in the upgrade menu instead of
.

Infrastructure Modifications
An Infrastructure Modification can be installed inside a Tier 2 or Tier 3 Bunker if it is connected to a Bunker Base by Trenches or Bunkers (up to a maximum range of 40 pieces). It can be installed even if a Structure Upgrade is already present, as long as that upgrade is on the top of the Bunker (like a Rifle Garrison) rather than inside the Bunker (Engine Room). It costs 50 Basic Materials
to install and 25 Basic Materials
to remove, no matter the type. Each bunker piece can only have one and it must rest against a wall (e.g. not in the middle of a 3x3 bunker network). Use to select the desired position during placement.
Infrastructure modifications are either Garrison
Infrastructure or Command
Infrastructure. They contribute to the Infrastructure requirement to unlock the Base Upgrades at all the Bunker Bases connected to them by Trenches and Bunkers, up to a maximum range of 40 pieces.
Infrastructure modifications also contribute different bonuses to all the connected bunkers to them (40-piece range as well). A bunker loses the bonus if its connection to the relevant Infrastructure Modification is severed.
Some kinds of infrastructure modifications only become available after a certain amount of infrastructure modifications of the same infrastructure type have already been built in the network of connected bunkers and trenches.
Garrison
Infrastructures
They are needed to unlock Defensive Garrisons (Tier 1)
(4), Defensive Garrisons (Tier 2)
(12), Defensive Garrisons (Tier 3)
(24), and (30).

Command
Infrastructures
They are needed to unlock Support Bunkers (Tier 1 & Tier 2)
(6), Support Bunkers (Tier 3)
(12), Deployment Point
(24), and Advanced Bunkers
(40).
Structure Upgrades
A Bunker can be modified into various specialised structures. Only one Structure Upgrade can be installed and it cannot be removed once built. It deletes all Small Modifications and Infrastructure Modifications that are in conflict with it (e.g. sandbags & ladder add-ons removed when placing a bunker garrison, or infrastructure modification removed when placing an engine room).
Most Structure Upgrades require that the Bunker is connected by trenches or bunkers to a Bunker Base with certain base upgrades unlocked. The direct chain of bunkers and trenches linking them must have 40 or fewer pieces (including the Bunker itself and the Bunker Base).
The Bunker must have full health (and be dry if it has concrete) to install a Structure Upgrade.
The upgrade's impact on its Bunker Network's Max Health and Breachable Health is mentioned in the description.
| Name | Icon | Description | Requirements |
|---|---|---|---|
| Bunker Base | A large forward operating base. Players can spawn and stockpile items here. Built with a Construction Vehicle | Only on Tier 1 bunkers. Cannot be adjacent to a Bunker Garrison upgrade (even diagonally). Only one per Bunker Network | |

Reservation
The original builder can reserve it for a Squad
for 52 hours in the upgrade menu to prevent non-members from modifying it or attaching structures to it.
The Reserve Multiple
button allows the builder to reserve it and every structure they built that is connected to it by some form of network: Foundation, Power Line, Pipeline, Bunker & Trench. The different network types also communicate: if structure 1 is connected to structure 2 by power line and structure 2 is connected to structure 3 by pipeline then using Reserve Multiple on structure 1 will reserve structure 2 and 3.
The reservation can be refreshed
by any squad member. If the reservation expires, the structure can never be reserved again.
Demolition
The original builder, and squad members if reserved, can instantly demolish it
if it was built less than 28 days ago. The materials used in the construction and upgrades are refunded and dropped under the player. If part of a Bunker Network, it must be fully repaired. The demolition doesn't affect the other bunkers inside that bunker network.
Reconstruction
When destroyed, it leaves behind a husk that can be either destroyed or rebuilt. Reconstruction uses the same tool and materials as the construction of its current tier (e.g. shoveling for Tier 1, Hammer and 75 bmats for Tier 2). It cannot be rebuilt if it is connected by trenches & bunkers to an enemy Bunker Base. The reconstruction restores all small modifications and infrastructure modifications except if an interior Structure Upgrade modification (e.g. Engine Room) was installed.
Unlike trench husks, bunker husks cannot be filled in with a shovel.
Actions Log
The list of all special actions done to the bunker can be viewed with the "View Action Logs" button
.
Use
Defensive Position
It offers great cover and good firing positions for infantry, especially with some small modifications installed. Bunker interior can protect infantry against Artillery. It also slowly warms up infantry in it during Snow Storms.
Bunkers are neutral structures by default if no Structure Upgrade modification is installed on them. An enemy can add or remove small modifications and Infrastructure Modifications from your bunker unless it is connected via Trench/Bunker to a friendly Bunker Base or if it is in the same Bunker Network as a friendly Bunker with a Structure Upgrade modification installed (e.g. Rifle Garrison).
When destroyed, the husk it leaves can still be used by soldiers to hide inside it by crouching but it offers worse cover than a normal bunker or trench. All vehicles can drive over bunker husks. The husk also does not protect infantry from Snow Storms.
Spreading Base Upgrades
The Base Upgrades unlocked by a Bunker Base spread through and apply to all connected Trenches and Bunkers, up to a maximum range of 40 pieces. Bunker husks also spread Base upgrades.
Resistance
At Tier 1, it is immune to small arms and shrapnel weapons, but not to 12.7mm machine gun fire or heavier explosives. Tier 2 makes it immune to 12.7mm. Tier 3 increases its resistance to heavy explosives except Demolition explosives.
When it's destroyed, every infantry in it dies. Even vehicles that touch the bunker might be instantly destroyed.
The destroyed Bunker husk has the same health and resistance as it had when alive but its decay is faster and cannot be prevented.
