A reinforced dugout that gives the garrisoned rifle infantry a fortified defensive position to fire on approaching enemies from relative safety.
In-game description

The Rifle Pillbox is a player-built defensive structure that automatically fires at enemies with a rifle when garrisoned.

Construction

It can be built with a Hammer and 60 Basic Materials on any land except roads, beaches, bridges, or rocks. During placement its firing range is shown.

Use

Garrison

When its Garrison is active (large flag on the pillbox), it automatically fires a 7.62mm rifle on any enemy vehicle, infantry, and structures within 23 meters (25m from its center) in a full 360 degree arc. It takes a second or two to fire accurately and at its maximum fire rate (60 rounds/min). Its detection range is reduced at night, similar to player vision. Getting shot by an enemy triggers its retaliation fire for 5.5 seconds, it locks on and fires at the shooter if it has a line of sight, bypassing its night vision limitation. The retaliation range is only limited by its caliber, the 7.62mm bullets starts dealing less damage past 27 meters and no damage past 41 meters. If the shooter was in a vehicle/structure and dismounts the retalation fire keeps targeting their old seat in the vehicle/structure and not the shooter now on foot.

The garrison has infinite ammunition.

Its garrison can be suppressed.

Defensive Position

One friendly player can get inside it by pressing Q. While inside they cannot be injured by anything except Gas Grenades or heat. They can fire with their equipped weapon in any direction unless the pillbox is suppressed. They instantly die if the pillbox is destroyed. Being inside the pillbox also warms up the player during Snow Storms.

Additionally, the Rifle Pillbox is short enough that infantry standing behind it can fire over it.

Resistance

It is immune to small arms and fragmentation grenades, but not to 12.7mm machine gun fire or heavier explosives.
