— In-game description |
The Emplacement House (also known as a Mortar House) is a permanent defensive world structure equipped with a fixed Mortar that can be used to defend besieged towns.
Construction
The Emplacement House can only be rebuilt using a Construction Vehicle and 200 Basic Materials. The nearby Town Base or Relic Base must have the Fortifications upgrade unlocked before it can be rebuilt.
Defense
It is a small modified Garrisoned House with its roof removed and a mortar platform installed on the "top floor", accessible via a ladder. Due to being immovable, and the heavy requirements to rebuild it, it is only useful in a defensive situation, such as sieges. It is resistant to Explosive and High Explosive damage, but is incredibly weak against Demolition damage (such as 250mm shells, Hydra's Whispers, Alligator Charge, or Havoc Charges).
Crew
The Emplacement House is crewed by one soldier:
- Gunner
- Controls the movement, reloading, and firing of the Mortar Tube
- Unlike other mortars, there's no distance selection, you directly aim with
RMB
at targets - Switch ammo types by pressing
F
- Without a roof over it, the seat is vulnerable to incoming fire.
Inventory & Armament
The Emplacement House has one main armament:
- Mortar
- Mounted on a rotating platform on top of the house (can rotate 360 degrees, turns 30° per second)
- Ammo Used: Mortar Shell, Shrapnel Mortar Shell, Flare Mortar Shell
- Range: 10-100 meters
- Reload Duration: 2 seconds
- Firing Duration: 1.5 seconds
- Fire Rate: 17.1 per minute
- Able to see where it's being fired, unlike other Mortar weaponry
- NOT affected by wind and perfectly accurate, allowing it to precisely hit targets.
It has three dedicated ammo slots which can hold:
- 50 Mortar Shells
- 50 Mortar Shrapnel Shells
- 50 Mortar Flare Shells
Trivia
The Emplacement House is the only artillery equipment/structure in the game that does not require a Spotter, or any secondary player. The player manning the fixed Mortar is only one in charge of aiming, firing, and reloading it.
