Fire Pit

“ | A pit of fire used to keep soldiers warm during Snow Storms. Requires Diesel to fuel. | „ |
— In-game description |
The Fire Pit is a faction-neutral, player-built structure that warms up soldiers and thaws frozen pipes and vehicles in a 6m radius when fueled with Diesel.
Construction
The fire pit is built using a Hammer and 35 Basic Materials. It can be built pretty much anywhere, such as Roads, Bridges, or Beaches, however it cannot be built on rocks, ice, or on a Field Bridge.
Due to being a structure, they are also maintained by Maintenance Supplies, which can increase the supplies usage of any nearby bases.
With Railway Tracks and Small Gauge Railway Tracks it is the only player structure that can be built within the no-build zone near region borders.
Upgrading
It can be upgraded into a Field Range using 3 Metal Beams.
Use
It doesn't have a proper interface.
Fuel
In order to work it must be fueled with Diesel, no other fuel type is accepted. Equip a Diesel can and click on the pit by pressing LMB
. The fire automatically starts as soon as the fire pit has diesel. It can hold up to 100L of Diesel (one can) and consumes 5L per minute, meaning the fire lasts 20 minutes when fully fueled. How much fuel remains in the fire pit is represented by the visual size of the burning fire.
Warming
When fueled, it quickly and automatically warms up soldiers and thaws frozen pipes and vehicles in a 6m radius. Warming up/thawing something never takes more than 30 seconds and the warming rate does not depend on how much Diesel is in the pit.
It has no effect when there is no Snow Storm.
Resistance
It is very vulnerable, it is one of the few structures that can be destroyed with small arms. 11 shots with a basic pistol will destroy it. It can also be destroyed by vehicles that run into or over it. In addition to its fragility, if the blueprint is hit by a vehicle, it will also be destroyed.
To prevent accidental ramming by friendly vehicles, you can build Storage Boxes around the fire pit or upgrade it into a Field Range.
Tips
- It is the only method to thaw frozen vehicles (besides waiting for the end of the Snow Storm). However armored vehicles can also be thawed with flamethrowers because they are immune to Incendiary damage.
