Offshore Platforms are open-water extraction facilities used to mine Heavy Oil and extract Rare Metals. A steady supply of highly processed Coke is required to keep operations running, as extracting materials from the ocean floor is a complex process.
In-game description

The Offshore Platform is a World Resource Mine that automatically produces Heavy Oil. It can also produce Enriched Oil when given fuel (Coal).

Construction

All Offshore Platforms start off destroyed when a new war starts, and can be rebuilt using a Construction Vehicle and 100 Construction Materials ConstructionMaterialsIcon.png. The Stationary Crane located on the platform is a separate structure, and must be individually rebuilt using 100 Basic Materials Basic Materials.png.

Must be fully researched in the Weapons and Structures IconFilterWeaponsStructures.png Tech Tree in order to be constructed.

Interactions

The Offshore Platform can be interacted either by hand, in a Truck, Fuel Tanker, naval vehicle, or by placing a Liquid Container on the loading pad in the front. You can press E or Shift + E to open the interface, while the only way to interact with the loading pad via a Crane.

It has two small docks where ships with ramps can deploy (mostly for Barges).

Resource Collection

Direct Collection with a Resource Container

Heavy Oil or Enriched Oil produced in the Offshore Platform can be retrieved either by hand, in a Truck, or Liquid Container.

Similar to other world structures that have a visible loading area (such as a Refinery), the loading area in front of the Offshore Platform allows players to place Containers and directly transfer resources into it. In order to use it, aim the crane's arm containing the container towards the front of the Mine until the icon under the Container has a gear symbol.

Tips

  • Every time you collect resources from a Resource Mine, you should refuel it in order to get the most resources out of it
  • You can check how much fuel and resources is in a Offshore Platform from the map by hovering your mouse cursor over the Offshore Platform's icon but only if your faction controls the Region Zone it's in.
  • The platform is elevated, a swimming soldier cannot climb on it. A motorboat can pass under it and its driver can access its interface.

Trivia

  • The Offshore Platform is the first World Resource Mine that is color-coded on the map, depending on the faction who controls/rebuilt it (similar to Town Bases and Relic Bases).
    • Unlike other World Resource Mines, the interface of the Offshore Platform is more akin to facility interfaces, which have multiple recipes and only one option can be selected at a time.
    • All Resource Fields and the rest of the World Resource Mines are colored white on the map, regardless of who controls/rebuilds them.
  • During the devbranch of Update 1.54 ('Naval Warfare'), Offshore Platforms used to have a recipe that consumed coke, and would output Heavy Oil, have a chance of dropping Rare Metal (which were initially called 'Rare Alloys').
    • This was later changed after community feedback, which removed the coke input and Rare Metal drop chance, and replaced it with a continuous Heavy Oil recipe, and a simple Enriched Oil recipe.
