Objective
Capture a number (Varies depending on map) of Victory Condition towns and upgrade their Provisional Garrison upgrade.
With the launch of 0.10 (World Conquest) we’re going to rip out the old game, and start in with a fresh new foundation that will let us build bigger, better, and (hopefully) faster than ever before.
Foxhole Devblog

World Conquest is the main game mode of Foxhole. In it, all of the game's regions are fought on simultaneously, and connected to each other.

Objective

One town in each active Region is a "Victory Condition" town, indicated by the symbol A victory condition town on the Town Base. In order to win, a faction must control and upgrade a certain number of Victory Condition town bases with the Provisional Garrison IconUpgradesProvisionalGarrison.png upgrade. This required number can be found at the top left corner of the world map. The amount required can be reduced by permanently destroying using Rockets. With a full world map scenario, the number of victory towns needed is 32 by default.

Starting Conditions

As of Update 0.26, the two faction's starting territory for each war can be customized to the developer's liking to introduce variety between the wars. Resource Fields and Resource Mines positions get randomized at war start. Some Regions can be disabled by the developers to fit the expected player population. The position and numbers of Factory, Refinery, and other production buildings can also be changed.

The starting conditions are posted in the Official Foxhole Discord's #updates channel a few hours before the war begins.

End War

Victory message shown at the exact moment victory is declared.

Once a faction has upgraded enough Victory Condition towns to Provisional Garrison, a 15 minute timer will appear acting as a "celebratory period". After this period, the Resistance Phase will commence. The phase usually lasts 1 or 2 days before a new war starts.

The victory or defeat message that appear on screen depends on the number of War Achievements each faction unlocked:

  • Crushing Defeat: Your faction has no War Achievements
  • Defeat: Your faction has 1 or more War Achievements
  • Close Defeat: Your faction has 3 or more War Achievements
  • Valiant Defeat: Your faction has 6 or more War Achievements
  • Pyrrhic Victory: Enemy has 6 or more War Achievements
  • Close Victory: Enemy has 3 or more War Achievements
  • Victory: Enemy has 1 or more War Achievements
  • Decisive Victory: Enemy has no War Achievements

Shards

Shards refer to the different World Conquests that players are capable of playing in. Due to a shard capable of holding 4000 concurrent players at a time, there have been times in the game where the concurrent players exceeded that limit. When this happens, a new World Conquest (AKA a shard) with different starting conditions will be opened, allowing players to play the game.

Due to being a new World Conquest, you must commit to a faction before playing the war. However, since it is on an entirely different server, you are able of playing a different faction. (i.e. Playing as a Colonial on Shard Able, while being a Warden on Shard Baker)

Previously, Shards were listed with numerical numbers, but in Update 1.50 (officially known as 'Inferno'), all Shards names were changed to a WWII-era phonetic alphabet.

List of playable Shards:

  • Shard Able (Shard 1)
  • Shard Baker (Shard 2)
  • Shard Charlie

NOTE: Depending on population and the amount of concurrent players, certain shards will be unavailable.

History

World Conquest was experimentally tested on in Update 0.9 and officially released in Update 0.10. An early prototype of World Conquest was released during the Pre-Alpha in Update 0.0.28.12 but was discontinued. In World Conquest 22, the victory condition was changed dramatically from 1-4 victory condition towns per map to only one. This introduced the town hall variant "Civic Center".

The first time a total concurrent player count of over 1000 has been achieved, was during World Conquest 19 on 14th of December, 2018 at 09:00pm (UTC+2).

War History

When maximum player count exceeds a Shard's capacity (with each shard capable of holding 4000 at max), additional shards will be opened up.

Previously known as Shard 1

Wars before Update 0.23

This table only includes wars that had Skirmishes, as they were replaced with Resistance Phase in Update 0.23. Start date here indicates the date the World Conquest started, not when Skirmishes started. Displayed on the leaderboard monument was the victor for both World Conquest and Skirmishes.

A platinum monument would be granted to the team that won both the World Conquest and the most amount of Skirmishes. Gold for the winner of the World Conquest but not the skirmishes. A silver for loser of the world conquest but winner of the skirmishes and bronze for the loser of both.

World Conquest victors were even with 11 wins per side, Wardens however had 7 platinum monuments, 4 higher than the Colonial 3.

Wars after Update 0.23 (Relics of War)

With update 0.23 relic vehicles were introduced into the game. These vehicles were randomly generated close to towns and would have to be excavated to be used.

Resistance mode was also added which replaced the skirmish mode from before, this mode allowed teams to continue fighting the war even after it had "ended".

With update 0.26 "World Conquest 2.0" many changes were implemented which impacted all wars greatly. The map was expanded, relic vehicles were removed completely (cited to return eventually), logistics was overhauled with resources being limited and randomly distributed and the starting positions for each team was changed each war.

Update 0.42 brought major changes to Artillery, Weapons and added Weather Systems. It also brought a swathe of new Vehicles to the game. Wars prior to war 18 are not shown due to them not being exposed in the API, as well as often being opened and closed at quick intervals to keep up with player numbers.
