Salvage Field
“ | A resource field for collecting Salvage to be taken to a Refinery. | „ |
— In-game description |
The Salvage Field is a Resource Field where Players can collect Salvage.
Construction
It cannot be built, it is found in the world. Its location is indicated by an icon on the map.
Resource Field locations are randomly selected by the game at the start of each war and do not change.
Use
Salvage Collection
A Salvage Field is composed of a large decorative center piece that can't be mined and smaller Salvage nodes strewn around it that can. Salvage nodes are mined by hitting them with a Hammer, Sledge Hammer, or Harvester (hold Left Click
). The Salvage Field starts with a reserve of 250 nodes. When a node on the field is harvested, a node from the reserve is spawned in after a few seconds. The amount of nodes left in the field's reserve can be seen by hovering the mouse over a field's icon on the map if the field is in a Region Zones owned by the player's faction or by pressing E
on a field's large center piece.
The appearance of the large center piece, three destroyed vehicles, changes as the reserve node value decreases. The small car with the closed top disappears at 189 nodes remaining. The other car, not the truck, disappears at 107 nodes remaining. The truck remains indefinitely, though the contents inside the bed of the truck do change with the previous 2 vehicles disappearances.
Once the reserve is fully depleted, the field replenishes after 30-140 real life minutes. That duration has a bit of randomness but mostly depends on global player population (shorter when population is higher). If not depleted, the field will remain at it's current number of reserve nodes. When the reserve nodes number reaches 25, the reserve node count suddenly drops to 0, and the respawn counter starts. If the field is left with nodes (after resetting), these nodes are not displayed or added to the field's reserve node count.
There are three sizes of nodes, Large, Medium, and Small. The large node appear with a tire. When mined, the large and medium nodes split into two of the next smaller pieces. Fully mining one large node, and the nodes that split from that, yields 200 Salvage. (1 large, 2 medium, 4 small nodes)
Only 25 large nodes may be present on the field at a time (this is why the reserve node count drops to 0 at 25 remaining).
Rarely, a field spawns a High Yield resource node. They are identified by a bright light above the node and yield a higher amount of resources for the same effort.
With these High Yield resource nodes, an entire field can yield more than 50,000 Salvage.
Stationary Harvester
Up to 3 Stationary Harvester (Salvage) can be built by players next to a particular Salvage field. They automatically retrieve Salvage from the field's node reserve at a slow pace and consume Petrol. Hovering the cursor over the field's icon on the map will show how much resource is currently stored in the field's Stationary Harvesters.
Technology Materials Collection
When manually mining Salvage, every time a node splits, it has a chance to spawn Aluminum, Iron, or Copper nodes. These nodes are mined just like other nodes. A field can only drop one type of these technology materials at a time. One of the them is randomly selected every time the field is cleared and replenishes.
These three resources are only used for technology research. Copper only spawns once the vehicle tech tree has reached Light Tanks. Once this occurs Iron stops spawning in Salvage Fields. All Technology Materials are to be refined at a Refinery and used at an Engineering Center. Failure to do so delays a factions progression through their technology research.
After the Dry Dock technology has been fully researched, a Salvage Field can select to drop Rare Metal instead of technology materials.
Resource Transport
Collected Salvage can be transported to a Refinery to be refined or to a player built Materials Factory to produce certain items.
Resource Containers can be brought by Flatbed, Barge, or Freighter then unloaded with a Crane at a resource field to be manually filled with raw resources. The container can hold way more resources than Trucks.
Resistance
Salvage Fields cannot be destroyed and craters cannot form on it.
