A foundation that provides a suitable surface for constructing Facilities.
In-game description

Foundations are player-built structures that only serve as foundation necessary for building Facilities. These foundations comes in a variety of shapes to better suit the terrain.

Construction

While they have some leniency in building compared to bunker blueprints, they can't be built on Road, rocks, Beaches, paved areas, or Bridges. They can be built protruding over the water but only if connected to an existing Foundation that is not over water.

Foundations can be upgraded into Concrete Foundation with Concrete Materials, which only increases their health. The concrete needs to dry for 24 hours (you can still build on foundations even when they're wet).

Pillboxes, Foxholes, Trenches, and Bunkers can't be built on top of them.

Supply Consumption

All foundations consume twice as much Maintenance Supplies compared to normal structures in order to prevent decay. The consumption rate is the same for all tile shapes, which incentives players to build larger foundations to minimize consumption.

Reservation

The original builder can reserve it for a Squad BtReserve.png for 52 hours in the menu to prevent non-members from modifying it. This doesn't prevent non-members from building on the foundation. The reservation can be refreshed BtRefreshBunker.png by any squad member. If the reservation expires, the structure can never be reserved again.

Demolition

The original builder can instantly demolish it BtDemolish.png if it was built less than 28 days ago, there's no enemy nearby, and there are no structures on top of it. The materials used in the construction and upgrades are refunded and dropped under the player.

Destruction

It is immune to Friendly Fire but it can be flagged for "Disruptive Structure Placement" BtRemove.png to remove the immunity (5 "votes" needed).

Use

Foundation pieces are used as foundation to build certain facility structures.

They can also be used near coastlines to create flat ground for Cranes to deploy and more easily load/unload shippables from Freighters or at a Dry Dock.
