A container for storing high volumes of liquids. Nearby structures and vehicles can refill directly from this container.
In-game description

The Liquid Container is a shippable structure designed to store and transport large quantities of liquid resources. Additionally, it can refuel nearby vehicles and structures with them.

Colour customization

You can chose from one of 8 colors to paint a container by selecting a colour in its menu.

Uses

You can access its interface when on foot or in a logistics vehicle by pressing E when it is not packaged.

Liquid Storage

It has two inventory slots, however they must be empty for the container to be packaged and transported.

It can store up to 100 canisters of any liquid in its stockpile, but it can only store one type of liquid at a time.

Canisters and crates of them can be directly submitted into the stockpile.

Refueling Station

When unpackaged it can refuel nearby vehicles and structures using the canisters in its stockpile by clicking the "Refuel" button BtAddDiesel.png in the target's menu. Even canisters in the two inventory slots are used for this refuelling mechanic even if they are incomplete or of different liquid types than the one in the stockpile.

Transport

As a shippable, it can be packaged with the "package" BtUnpackage.png button in its menu (the inventory must be empty but not the stockpile). Once packaged, it can then be lifted by a Crane and placed on any Shipping Vehicle for transport. While on a vehicle you cannot interact with it. You will require another crane at your destination to lift the container from the vehicle. To unpackage it simply press E.

Like every other player made structures, it can decay after a while if left on the ground.

Unlike other container types, Liquid Containers cannot be stacked on top of each other.

When empty it can be stored in a stockpile at a Storage Depot, Seaport, or Storage Ship by depositing it on their loading area and pressing the Submit Loading Area Equipment BtDrivewayEquipment.png button in their interface.

Liquid Transfer

Using a crane, it can be deposited on any loading area of structures or ships to transfer liquid canisters in or out of the stockpile. The more important ones are:

Name Use
Refinery Submit/Retrieve liquid canisters from the public stockpile.
Retrieve liquid canisters from your personal queue.
Offshore Platform Retrieve liquid canisters produced.
Liquid Transfer Station Submit/Retrieve liquid canisters

Since its stockpile contains items and not crates its content cannot be directly transfered into a Seaport or Storage Depot by being placed on their loading area.

Tactics

Liquid Containers are often filled with Diesel or Petrol and put near every structure where vehicles can be produced, stored, or docked to easily refuel them (Garage, Shipyard, Storage Depot, Seaport). They are also often put near World Resource Mines and Stationary Harvesters that need to be regularly refuelled.

Trivia

  • When the Liquid Container was introduced in Update 1.50 ('Inferno'), it was originally called the "Fuel Container". It was renamed to the Liquid Container in Update 1.52 in order to reduce naming confusion
