Player made structures start to suffer from decay after a grace period, damaging them regularly until they're destroyed.

Grace Period

The Grace Period starts when the structure is built. Its duration depends on the structure type (see the table at the bottom). It is reset if the structure is upgraded, however Small Modifications and Infrastructure Modifications for Trenches and Bunkers do not count. Repairing a decayed structure partially resets it, proportionally to how much health percentage was repaired.

Affected Structures

Decay affects all player placed structures, including deployed tripods and shippables (containers, concrete mixers, emplacements, etc...). The three exceptions are Anti-Tank Mines and Sea Mines which always last 48 hours and Signposts which last 50 hours by default but changes depending on the numbers of votes they receive.

Unfinished structure blueprints suffer from decay but it cannot be prevented.

World structures (e.g. Garrisoned Houses, Town Bases, World Resource Mines, etc...) are not affected by decay. The only exception are Border Bases due to the Frontier Border mechanic.

Decay does not affect vehicles (but they can despawn after a few days of inactivity to help server performance).

Decay Prevention

A Base with the Small Garrison IconUpgradesSmallGarrison.png upgrade can prevent the decay of structures within its AI range by consuming Maintenance Supplies placed in its stockpile.

A Maintenance Tunnel can also prevent decay by consuming Maintenance Supplies. In its menu, the player can adjust the supply range (0-100m) and select the types of structures to maintain (using the same categories as the Build menu plus one for Shippables).

When placing a structure blueprint, the game will show you whether it is in range of a Base with the necessary upgrade to prevent decay. You can use a Hammer in Upgrade Mode (F) on a structure to see whether its decay is prevented by a Base or Tunnel and to see the distance and direction towards it.

You can check the maintenance status of a base or tunnel by putting your cursor on the tiny maintenance supplies icon in their menu.

Decay prevention methods also repair damage done by decay.

Supply Consumption

The Maintenance Supplies are consumed at a rate of 1 per decaying structure per hour. The modifications on Trenches and Bunkers do not count as separate structures.

Rapid Decay Zone

No-Build Zone represented in red and Rapid Decay Zone in green.

Structures built within 150m of a region border suffer from rapid decay. Their grace period and decay duration are 10 times shorter, most structures only last a few hours. Trying to place a structure blueprint in that area will show you a warning. Rapid decay cannot be prevented.

Decay Duration

The time it takes for decay to fully destroy a structure depends on its type, see the table below. A decay duration of 0 means the structure instantly dies the moment the grace period ends.
