Player made structures start to suffer from decay after a grace period, damaging them regularly until they're destroyed. Husks of those structures also decay.

Grace Period

The Grace Period starts when the structure is built. Its duration depends on the structure type (see the table at the bottom). It is reset if the structure is upgraded, however Small Modifications and Infrastructure Modifications for Trenches and Bunkers do not count. Repairing a decayed structure partially resets it, proportionally to how much health percentage was repaired.

Affected Structures

Decay affects all player placed structures, including deployed tripods and shippables (containers, concrete mixers, emplacements, etc...). The exceptions are standalone Anti-Tank Mines, AP Mines, and Sea Mines which always last 48 hours and Signposts which last 50 hours by default but changes depending on the numbers of votes they receive. The A0E-9 Rocket Platform and its Rocket also do not decay.

Unfinished structure Build Sites suffer from decay but it cannot be prevented. Unfinished vehicle Build Sites (Motorboat, Construction Vehicle) are unaffected by decay.

World structures (e.g. Garrisoned Houses, Town Bases, World Resource Mines, etc...) are not affected by decay. The only exception are Border Bases due to the Frontier Border mechanic. Town Bases and Relic Bases that are made into Zoo can also decay once they run out of Soldier Supplies, with a grace period of ~24 h (+-6 h ?) and a decay rate of 5% HP every ~20 min (+-5 min ?).[1]

Decay does not affect vehicles, but most will despawn after 3 days of inactivity to help server performance.

Decay Prevention

A Base can prevent the decay of structures within its AI range by consuming Maintenance Supplies placed in its stockpile.

A Maintenance Tunnel can also prevent decay by consuming Maintenance Supplies. In its menu, the player can adjust the supply range (0-100m) and select the types of structures to maintain (using the same categories as the Build menu plus one for Shippables).

When placing a structure blueprint, the game will show you whether it is in range of a supply source. You can use a Hammer in Upgrade Mode (Keyboard f.png) on a structure to see whether its decay is prevented by a Base or Tunnel and to see the distance and direction towards it.

You can check the maintenance status of a base or tunnel by putting your cursor on the tiny maintenance supplies icon in their menu.

Structures whose decay is actively prevented also get slowly repaired (1% health per hour) regardless of the damage source.

The decay of Husks of player built structures cannot be prevented, except for Bunker Base husks.

Supply Consumption

The Maintenance Supplies are consumed at a rate of 1 per decaying structure per hour. The modifications on Trenches and Bunkers do not count as separate structures.

A handful of structures additionally have increased consumption:

Rapid Decay Zone

No-Build Zone represented in red and Rapid Decay Zone in green.

Structures built within 150m of a region border suffer from rapid decay. Their grace period and decay duration are 10 times shorter, most structures only last a few hours. Trying to place a structure blueprint in that area will show you a warning. Rapid decay cannot be prevented.

Decay Duration

The time it takes for decay to fully destroy a structure (or structure husk) depends on its type, see the table below. A decay duration of 0 means the structure instantly dies the moment the grace period ends. For structure with a husk, the row is split in two with the husk's value below the separation.

Note that structures built on terrain devastated by artillery take more damage from decay thus their decay duration can be lower than expected (as low as half the normal duration). The grace period is unchanged however.

  • Changes to Decay Mechanics and Garrison Supplies.
    • Garrison Supplies have been repurposed into Maintenance Supplies.
      • Maintenance Supplies are producible at the Factory, Mass Production Factory, and Materials Factory.
      • Maintenance Supplies are assembled faster from a Materials Factory stockpile.
      • When decay is prevented by Maintenance Supplies, the structure will also be repaired by 1% at the same time.
    • The Supply Station has been converted into a Maintenance Tunnel.
      • This will enable base builders to fine-tune which structures have decay prevented based on:
        • Range
        • Structure category (defenses, entrenchments, containers, etc).
      • The Maintenance Tunnel can be built anywhere without Foundations.
    • Sub-Region zones will have a reduced cost of Maintenance Supplies when server performance is optimal.
      • This modifier will go negative and require more Maintenance Supplies as server performance degrades.
      • This modifier can be seen from the Sub-Region tooltip.
    • Players will be able to tell which structures are supplied by accessing the upgrade menu on a structure. An arrow will be drawn to the structure that is preventing its decay.
    • Systems and content like the Supply Station, Bunker Supplies, Base Garrison Upgrades, and Supply Surplus mechanics have been removed or altered to suit new decay mechanics.

The start time of decay is unknown but region chat kept giving updates of %HP, loss was 5% every tick (1 tick was estimated to be 15-25 min).
