— In-game description |
The BMS Longrider (also known as a Flatbed Car) is a train car designed to transport various shippable structures and vehicles.
General Info
Armament
The BMS Longrider is not equipped with a main armament.
Inventory
It has 1 inventory slot which can hold any item, and a loading area that can hold 1 medium or large shippable.
Engine & Mobility
- Uses no fuel
- Can only move on Railway Tracks, must be placed on tracks with a crane
- Cannot move on its own, requires a Locomotive connected to it to be moved
- Can ram and destroy any structures (such as Deployed Tripods) in its path
- Instantly destroys any unarmored vehicle in its path if there are no friendly soldiers inside of them
- Does not trigger Anti-Tank Mines
Health & Armor
The BMS Longrider has 1500 HP. It has "Light Armor" resistance: it can soak small arms fire and shrapnel, and it is immune to Flamethrowers. It can soak 12.7mm machine gun fire but not for long. Heavy explosives and anti-tank weaponry are an extremely dangerous threat to it.It takes 100 Basic Materials to fully repair it from 1% to 100% health with a Hammer.
Interactions
- Couple two cars together - hold
Shift + E
and pressCouple Cars
(they must be touching/close together) - Decouple two connected cars - requires a Wrench used in the area between the two cars
- Able to carry one medium or large shippable
- Must be loaded and unloaded by a Crane
- The shippable is invincible while on the car, hitting it transfers the damage to the car.
- If the car is destroyed, the shippable is deleted, except if it is a Material Pallet, Resource Container, Shipping Container, or Liquid Container which is dropped on the ground instead.

The BMS Black Bolt Locomotive must be fully researched in the Vehicle Tech Tree in order to be produced.
Storage & Transport
The BMS Longrider cannot be stored in a Storage Depot, Seaport or Storage Ship.
It can be packaged into a large Shippable and transported only by certain Shipping Vehicles (Barge, Freighter, Storage Ship, Flatbed Car, or Large Crane).
Tactics
The BMS Longrider is essential for transporting any types of goods to a destination. Depending on the destination, and how much resources the player wants to carry, it can have a maximum of 14 Flatbed Cars (one Locomotive and 14 Flatbed Cars).
Using these makes large trains the most powerful vehicle in the game, logistics-wise, as their ability to transport Resource Containers, Shipping Containers, and vehicles (in both crate form, or standard vehicle form) in large quantities. Even a minimum of six Flatbed Cars carries more equipment/resources than a Freighter.
Putting 100 Coal in the single inventory slot of each Flatbed Cars of a train is a good way to always have spare fuel for emergencies.
Trivia
- Despite having a low profile, the player is unable to vault over it, meaning they must walk around the entire train in order to bypass it.
