Storage & Transport

The R-9 “Speartip” Escort can be stored in a Storage Depot, Seaport or Storage Ship.

It can be packaged into a large Shippable and transported only by certain Shipping Vehicles (Barge, Freighter, Storage Ship, Flatbed Car, or Large Crane).

Tactics

The R-9 "Speartip" Escort, like all trucks, are a valuable part of Foxhole's logistical loop in terms of gathering resources and materials, transporting equipment, and delivering/storing them. As such, it is important to have them stored in either a Seaport or a Storage Depot and not lying around in order for partisans to steal them. If you do not plan on storing it there, then make sure it is behind defenses with AI, as parking them in front will block their line of sight, making them unable to shoot targets.

While it is equipped with a 7.92mm machine gun, it can only turn 180 degrees in front of the truck, meaning that it is vulnerable to getting attacked when enemies are attacking from the sides, or behind it. Additionally, it still has the high disable percentage of a standard truck, meaning that it will get stopped by a few rounds. In terms of inventory, despite having 15 slots, if the crew wants to use the machine gun, then one slot needs to be reserved for 7.92mm, effectively giving it the same number of inventory slots as other truck variants. Overall, its not suited for frontline combat and other frontline vehicles should be used instead.

Frontline Delivery
Trucks are the only way to get a majority of Foxhole's equipment to the frontline, which comes in the form of crates. As such, they are a vital part of getting large amounts of equipment to a base in a quick and timely manner. They are also pretty fragile, and can quickly be disabled by any weaponry in a few shots. As such, it is very important that there is Map Intelligence covering the roads so any partisans can be preemptively spotted and dealt with by frontline forces.

In terms of what drivers need to carry on them when doing this, they should at the very least carry a rifle and two clips of ammo. This is to defend yourself from partisans and to increase your chances of surviving the encounter. While it is not necessary, you can also equip a Gas Mask and two Filters to protect yourself from Gas Grenades.

Ideal Ammunition Loadout
Although the vehicle can hold up to 100 ammo, it's highly recommended to bring much fewer than that (between 20 to 60) due to oversupplying (any engagement will use far less than 100 ammo). If the vehicle runs out, they can salvage from the enemy, or resupply at a nearby base. This prevents the enemy from benefiting from your destruction by looting the destroyed vehicle, and gaining additional ammo.

Trivia

  • The R-9 "Speartip" Escort is the only logistical truck that is equipped with a main armament.
  • The machine gun of the R-9 "Speartip" Escort is identical to the one on the 00MS “Stinger”. This was changed so that all 7.92mm machine guns were standardized (like how 12.7mm machine guns were standardized in Update 1.52).
