— In-game decription
The PL-1 “Phalanx” (also known as a Phalanx) is a frontline Relic Vehicle. It is equipped with two sponson 40mm main cannons. Its most distinctive features are the two sponson turrets housing the main cannons on either side of the vehicle.
The PL-1 “Phalanx” has 4850 HP and is disabled under 30% health. It has "Heavy Armor" resistance: it can soak small arms fire, shrapnel, and 12.7mm machine guns, and it is immune to Flamethrowers. But heavy explosives and anti-tank weaponry are a real threat to it. It has subsystems that have a chance to be disabled by heavy explosives and anti-tank weaponry if hit specifically: Tracks: 30% (Anti-Tank Mines always disable them), Fuel Tank: 0%, Turret/Cannon: 25%, Second Turret/Cannon: 25%. It has Tank Armor. With it, in best case scenario, penetrating projectiles only have a 33% chance of penetrating and doing damage. That chance goes up quickly if the armor is worn or if it is shot from up close, or on the side or rear from a direct angle, or with ammo that has penetration bonuses. It takes 195 Basic Materials to fully repair it from 1% to 100% health with a Hammer. Its health, subsystems, and Tank Armor can be instantly repaired at a Garage for 100 Basic Materials.
The PL-1 “Phalanx” is not a fast or nimble tank, which the crew should keep this in mind when engaging enemy vehicles. This is especially true for enemy infantry as it is easy to get overwhelmed destroyed if they are equipped with AT weaponry.
Unlike most tanks, the cannons on the PL-1 “Phalanx” have a limited traversal arc (about 150 degrees), meaning that there's a dead zone behind the tank, where both cannons cannot fire at. As such, the crew should keep this in mind when fighting more agile vehicles such as Light Tanks, where flanking is much more viable.
Although it is possible to use the tank without a Commander, it's not recommended as it will limit your awareness on the battlefield.
Standard Equipment Loadout
Like with every other armored vehicle, the crew should ALWAYS equip themselves with a Gas Mask and multiple Filters to avoid dying to Gas Grenades. Additionally, they should bring a Hammer and Basic Materials to repair the tank. These tactics can be buffed by wearing either a Tank Uniform or an Engineer Uniform.

Trivia
The shape of the PL-1 “Phalanx” suggests it could be inspired by the German World War I A7V Tank.
The Colonial's Combat Car, the Aegis Steelbreaker K5a, takes direct inspiration from the PL-1 “Phalanx”.
According to the in-game description, PL-1 “Phalanx” is equipped with light armor. This is misleading, as the vehicle sports heavy armor, which is utilized by all tanks.
The word "Phalanx" is a Greek originating word used to refer to a rectangular mass military formation composed mostly of soldiers with long weapons such as pikes, spears, and other long pole-like weapons.
