A light armoured mechanized vehicle first seen in early border skirmishes between Caoiva and Veli. With its thin frame, it was deployed in wide formations, often overwhelming enemy forces.
In-game decription

The Storm Tank is a frontline Relic Vehicle. It is equipped with a 40mm main cannon.

General Info

Crew

The Storm Tank houses a crew of three soldiers:

  • Driver (Seat 1)
    • Controls the movement of the vehicle, and can see the remaining fuel in the tank
  • Cannoneer (Gunner) (Seat 2)
    • Controls the movement, firing, and reloading of the 40mm main cannon
  • Commander (Seat 3)
    • Can open up the hatch by pressing E, which allows the player to use their secondary, such as a binocular

Armament

The Storm Tank is equipped with one main armament:

  • 40mm Cannon
    • Mounted on the turret (can rotate 360 degrees, turns 15° per second)
    • Ammo Used: 40mm
    • Range: 40 meters
    • Reload Duration: 3.5 seconds
    • Firing Duration: 2 seconds
    • Fire Rate: 10.9 per minute

Inventory

It has 2 inventory slots, and a dedicated ammo slot that can hold 40 40mm shells.

Health & Armor

The Storm Tank has 2500 HP and is disabled under 30% health. It has "Heavy Armor" resistance: it can soak small arms fire, shrapnel, and 12.7mm machine guns, and it is immune to Flamethrowers. But heavy explosives and anti-tank weaponry are a real threat to it.
It has subsystems that have a chance to be disabled by heavy explosives and anti-tank weaponry if hit specifically: Tracks: 30% (Anti-Tank Mines always disable them), Fuel Tank: 40%, Turret/Cannon: 25%.
It has Tank Armor. With it, in best case scenario, penetrating projectiles only have a 40% chance of penetrating and doing damage. That chance goes up quickly if the armor is worn or if it is shot from up close, or on the side or rear from a direct angle, or with ammo that has penetration bonuses.
It takes 160 Basic Materials to fully repair it from 1% to 100% health with a Hammer. Its health, subsystems, and Tank Armor can be instantly repaired at a Garage for 100 Basic Materials.

Storage & Transport

The Storm Tank cannot be stored in a Storage Depot, Seaport or Storage Ship.

Tactics

The Storm Tank, much like regular Light Tanks, are powerful vehicles capable of disabling, or even outright destroying enemy vehicles smaller than them (such as Armored Cars, Tankettes, or even certain Half-Tracks). As such, they need to play a supporting role alongside infantry to destroy any targets impeding them, like MG pillboxes, and bunker garrisons.

Despite its powerful armament, it is vulnerable to infantry, especially those with AT weaponry. As such, the crew needs to be aware of them and ensure enemy infantry do not ambush it and destroy it. This means playing alongside infantry and not pushing during the night, as vision is smaller and more limited.

Although it is possible to use the tank without a commander, it's not recommended as it will limit your awareness on the battlefield.

Standard Equipment Loadout
Like with every other armored vehicle, the crew should ALWAYS equip themselves with a Gas Mask and multiple Filters to avoid dying to Gas Grenades. Additionally, they should bring a Hammer and Basic Materials to repair the tank. These tactics can be buffed by wearing either a Tank Uniform or an Engineer Uniform.

Trivia

  • Certain Abandoned Armouries contain a derelict Storm Tank inside the second room (these could not be used).
  • The Storm Tank general design appears to be shared with the Herne QMW 1a Scourge Hunter Mech from the Dead Harvest event.
  • The Storm Tank was likely inspired by the French Schneider CA1 and CA2 tanks, with the CA1 being the first French tank designed during the First World War.
