Train Bridge
This article is timeless and should be accurate for any version of the game.
The Train Bridge is a world structure that allows large Trains to cross bodies of water and can be opened to let ships through.
Construction
It cannot be built. It can be found on the map across certain rivers.
Reconstruction
A destroyed Train Bridge can be rebuilt with a Hammer and 200 or 300 Basic Materials depending on the Train Bridge model.
Use
River Crossing
Unlike other bridges, its main purpose is to allow large trains to cross rivers. It comes with its own Preplaced Railway Track that can be connected to player built Railway Tracks. Infantry and vehicles can also cross it, however the lack of railing on the sides makes it risky.
When destroyed, vehicle cannot cross it. Infantry can cross but has to swim across the small gap thus preventing soldiers from carrying Large Items across.
Destroying it can be used to block the enemy's logistics routes.
Drawbridge
It has movable parts that can be raised to let ships pass through. In order to raise the drawbridge, a player must activate both switches located on each side of the drawbridge. To lower the drawbridge, only one of the two switches must be deactivated by a player. If a player is driving any type of boat or ship they can simply press E
to open or close the bridge while close to it.
Motorboats, Landing APCs, and amphibious LUVs can pass under drawbridges even when not raised, but all ships require the bridge to be opened to pass. If a ship is in the way of the raised drawbridge it cannot be lowered until the ship is moved or destroyed. Ships that linger under bridges start taking damage after 2 minutes and die in less than 5 minutes. If the drawbridge is destroyed no vehicle or ship can pass through except submerged Submarines.
If structures are built on the movable parts of drawbridges, they will be instantly destroyed when the bridge is opened.
Defensive Position
The nooks on each side of the bridge can serve as cover for crouched infantry, making them safe from enemy vehicles trying to run them over.
A few types of defensive structures can be built on most bridges: Sandbags, Tank Trap, Barbed Wire, deployed Tripod, Fire Pit.
Ladders on each side of the bridge help people that are in the water get back on the bridge.
