Heavy Explosive Powder

— In-game description |
Heavy Explosive Powder (also known as Heavy Explosive Materials or HEmats) is a mid-to-late game material used in the crafting of the heavier equipment, specifically explosives.
Acquisition
Structure | Input(s) | Output | Time |
---|---|---|---|
Refinery | 5 x Sulfur | 1 x Heavy Explosive Powder | 00:00:15 |
Once refined, HEmats can be retrieved from the Refinery queue with the LMB
or as crates using the context menu (press RMB
).
Use
Heavy Explosive Powder is the main material to craft the heaviest ordnances (like shells). These can be used at a Factory, Mass Production Factory, or Ammunition Factory.
Item Production
Storage
It stacks up to 100 per slot in inventories. It can be stored in the stockpiles of Bases (32k max), Resource Containers (5k), Resource Transfer Stations (15k), and Resource Ship (95k).
It can be crated (need stack of 30 per crate) and uncrated with the right click
context menu while interfacing a Seaport, Storage Depot, or Shipping Container.
Crates of Heavy Explosive Powder can be directly submitted to any item stockpile that accepts that item to transfer their content. The crates can also be stored in the crate stockpiles of Storage Depots (1000 public, 300 per Reserve Stockpile), Seaports (1000 public, 300 per Reserve Stockpile), Shipping Containers (60), or Storage Ships (1000).
It can be transported by almost any vehicle with inventory slots, but is most commonly transported by normal Trucks, Resource Trucks, Small Container Car, Resource Ship, or shipping vehicles carrying Resource Containers. Although it can also be transported as crates by shipping vehicles carrying Shipping Containers, it is much less efficient due to its small crate size.
Tactics
- Due to its refining speed, it is important to always think ahead and refine sulfur into HEmats before you need them in order to not wait a long time for them to finish refining.
- Similar to Explosive Powder, Heavy Explosive Powder has no direct usage on the frontlines, and should never be transport there.
- They can be used in an Ammunition Factory, however the placement of these depends on how active a frontline is an how vulnerable it is to enemy attacks.
- Due to the relatively small amount of HEmat per crate, it is often more efficient to transport HEmats in a Resource Container on a Flatbed, as long as you want to spend them on arrival and not store them in a private stockpile. Trucks can carry 1500 HEmats, a shipping container can carry 1800 (30x60), but a resource container can carry 5000 HEmats.
Trivia
- Prior to Update 1.57, Heavy Explosive Powder was called Heavy Explosive Materials, and were different in various ways.
- Their icon was changed, their crate size was smaller (20 per crate), had a higher refining ratio (20:1), and could not be transported in resource containers.
- These were changed to improve logistical transportation, but were primarily used to limit artillery by restricting how much Sulfur is being harvested/used.
