The Heartlands is a map that was added in Update 0.0.17 as Upper Heartlands. It is mostly flat on open terrain, making it ideal for mechanized assaults over wide open ground. The Blemish town, nestled into the heart of the Bulwark was the site of the Breaching and has since been a home to Veli Colonials. The walled town should offer a fresh, dynamic approach to urban combat.
Update History
- 0.12 - all production buildings (barring the Medical Lab and Refinery) were removed from the map as a World Conquest balancing measure.
- 0.13 - Map was expanded to include the lower Heartlands and thus the name was renamed from Upper Heartlands to Heartlands. The update reintroduced Crafting buildings and gave the Colonials a Home Base as part of the North-South World conquest Orientation changes.
- 0.20 Foundation of War - Observation Towers and the new structure Safehouses have been implemented to this map.
- 0.29 - Border Forts has been removed and been repurposed as Zone Bases.
- 0.41 - much of the Bulwark has been repositioned towards the north of the map, cutting through The Breach (formerly Barronstown) to the west and encompassing Greenfield Orchard in the east.
- 1.54 Naval Warfare - Observation Towers in non-coastal/island regions were removed.

You’ve stumbled upon what appears to be an abandoned workshop.
The table is covered in old documents. While most are irrelevant, you notice a shipping manifest stamped with the letters NSRF.
It lists supplies recovered after skirmishes in the area and names of a salvage detachment, their contributions, and payments for an operation.

Inside the tent are two small bedrolls and a burnt out lantern.
Next to the lantern are piles of sticks pressed together to form two dozen hexagons sitting on top of flattened birch bark. Inside the hexagons are whittled wooden figures. Each one seems to represent something different, a rider on horseback, an archer, a wagon, etc. Some are knocked over on the outside the grid.

Inside there’s a hand-crafted pipe alongside preserved tobacco wrapped in wax paper. There's a note.

If you’re hankering for more, fill the case with some of that jerky from the Fisherman's Row. Leave it at the fort. Once it’s found, I’ll send a lad out to set up a meet.
