A specialized vehicle designed by the Bassett Motor Society used in the construction of large structures.
In-game description

The BMS - Universal Assembly Rig (also known as a Construction Vehicle, or CV) is an extremely slow logistics vehicle specially designed to build, rebuild, and upgrade large structures.

General Info

Crew

The BMS - Universal Assembly Rig holds one passenger, and houses a crew of one soldier:

  • Driver/Operator (Seat 1)
    • Controls the movement of the vehicle, and can see the remaining fuel in the vehicle
    • Interacts with nearby structures - press E or Shift + E
    • Controls the construction arm - Aim RMB, build LMB, switch mode F
  • Passenger (Seat 2)
    • Can't do anything

Armament

The BMS - Universal Assembly Rig is not equipped with a main armament, however it is equipped with a Construction Arm.

  • Construction Arm - mounted to the chassis, rotates 360 degrees
    • Interacts with structures and cannot damage players - must be in close proximity towards target

Inventory

It has 12 inventory slots that can hold any item. It primarily uses Basic Materials, Construction Materials, Gravel (stacks up to 100), Concrete Materials, and Processed Construction Materials (does not stack).

Interactions

  • Can interact with most structures in proximity - press E or Shift + E
    • Pulls items from stockpiles twice as fast compared to on foot
    • Can pull three times the normal amount from stockpiles - press Shift + LMB
  • Its construction arm can build, rebuild, and upgrade certain structures - press/hold LMB

Despite Bunker Bases having an upgrade that allows them to become a Deployment Point, having this unlocked will not allow you to construct a CV there.

Storage & Transport

The BMS - Universal Assembly Rig can be stored in a Storage Depot, Seaport or Storage Ship.

It can be packaged into a small Shippable and transported by any Shipping Vehicle (Crane, Flatbed Truck, Barge, Freighter, Storage Ship, Landing Ships, Flatbed Car, or Large Crane).

Tactics

  • When near the front, it is advised for CVs to be escorted and guarded by infantry due to their fragile nature, as they will help construct larger defenses (such as bunker bases constructed during pushes into enemy territory)
  • CVs should always be left unlocked when you are done using it so others can use them, because it's the only vehicle that enemy players cannot enter
  • CVs can still build even if they are damaged (they will not operate if they become disabled)
  • A CV created by the enemy faction cannot be driven, however you can still access its inventory

Trivia

  • The BMS - Universal Assembly Rig is the only vehicle in the game that doesn't allow players from the other faction to drive/operate them.
    • This is a gameplay mechanic to prevent Partisans from destroying a building and stealing a nearby CV to rebuild them for their faction.
  • Prior to Update 0.48, the 2nd seat used to be the one that operated the arm, as well as its positioning and where it can point the arm (holding RMB towards a destination).
    • This was later updated so the Driver could do that, as they saw that players weren't using them as a team, and only had one person operating the entire vehicle.
  • In Update 1.52, the Construction Vehicle underwent various Quality-of-Life changes to improve the builder experience:
    • Construction Vehicles could now be packaged and transported by another vehicle, however if the transporting vehicle is destroyed while it is holding it, the CV will be lost (this prevents Partisans from quickly transporting them behind enemy lines, and causing large amounts of damage).
    • The ACV was introduced and had expanded construction capabilities, but the Tech Tree upgrade called "Advanced Construction" (which allowed them to construct all Pillboxes with regular CVs) was removed from the game, which meant regular CVs could not construct them (ACVs had this ability built-in).
