This article could contain outdated information that is inaccurate for the current version (1.56) of the game. It was last updated for 1.55.

The Blakerow is a carbine with a high rate of fire compared to its bolt-action predecessor. This increased fire rate does come at the cost of innate stopping power; however, its versatility and lightweight frame more than make up for any perceived shortcomings.
In-game description

The Blakerow 871 (simply known as a Blakerow) is a Warden 7.62mm semi-automatic rifle. It is best suited to short and mid-range engagements.

Description

The Blakerow 871 is a lightweight carbine and is a rapid fire primary weapon that serves as an alternative to the standard issue rifle for the Wardens, the No.2 Loughcaster. Compared to the Loughcaster, the Blakerow has less damage per shot, less range, and is less accurate. However, it also possesses a higher rate of fire, a larger magazine, a faster reload, and a significantly lower Encumbrance (12% vs. 18%).

The Blakerow typically kills players in three hits, with two shot kills being possible but not guarantied.

Tactics

The Blakerow 871 operates well in medium ranges and occupies the gap between the Loughcaster rifle and the Fiddler SMG. The carbine's high rate of fire allows it to remain competitive in close quarters fights against dedicated short range weapons, like Submachine Guns. Because the carbine is part of the rifle category, it can equip a Bayonet. This increases the weapon's close range combat abilities significantly.

The Blakerow suffers from inaccuracy at longer ranges if fired quickly and its lower damage results in other rifles having the upper hand. While it can still be useful in longer range fights, remaining in good cover and firing slowly to reduce recoil are strongly recommended.

Trivia

  • The number "871" may refer to the weapon's year of invention, or its year of introduction into Warden forces. This naming convention is shared with other warden weapons.
  • Prior to the introduction of faction specific small arms in Update 0.42 the Blakerow was also used by the Colonials, and was referred to simply as a "carbine". Additionally, it used a separate type of ammo, known as "7.62 carbine". Its stats were otherwise identical.
  • The Blakerow 871 appears to be based on the American M1 Carbine.
